Gayle is set to join Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell and Craig Kieswetter as the headline players for the event. Each South African franchise has only managed to add one overseas player to the squad although there was speculation they would be more. Kumar Sangakkara was in talks to join Lions but had to withdraw to join Sri Lanka's ODI outfit for their trip to India ...

"Gayle will be available for the entire competition, like his West Indies team-mates, apart from Bravo, who will miss the first match. West Indies have no fixtures during the competition, which runs from November 2 to December 12. Their next international assignment is in South Africa - a three-Test, three-T20 and five-ODI tour which starts on December 17. The only possible clash for West Indies players in the twenty-over tournament will be if they are required to play in the tour match in South Africa, which is pencilled in for December 10-12, or be part of a pre-series camp."

At least Gayle and co are making sure they can earn some money playing cricket if the Saffer tour also collapses....

Gayle, Big Bravo, Pollard, Sammy and Russell clearly have no intention of playing the PCL.

I guess the WICB decided not to withhold NOCs for this tournament, despite Afro's tough-talking....

Pollard has an outstanding match, hitting 72 not out off just 36 balls, including four sixes and six boundaries, and then returns to take 3-22 off his four overs.

In the same match, Sammy was underbowled as usual...two overs for 23 runs, and out for one.

Russell makes 10 and takes one wicket in the Warriors's win.

I would not have seen the point of not approving NOCs given the precedent!

Another massive victory for the Lions, thanks to Gayle, who hit 108 not out from just 55 balls, including 10 boundaries and seven sixes!
Sammy hit 23 and took 3-21 in a losing cause against Russell, who hit 48 and took a wicket....

Pollard vs Bravo, but not much from either.
