At the Glasgow Invitational this Saturday....

1) Jamaican Aleen Bailey will be running in the women's 60m.

2) Chris Brown of the Bahamas will take part in the men's 400m.

3) Anguilla's Shara Proctor will be jumping in the women's long jump for Britain.

4) Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis will be running in the men's 150m.

5) Jamaica's Andrea Bliss will take part in the women's 60m hurdles.

At the Glasgow Invitational, Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis won the men's 150m in 15.84, ahead of Britain's James Ellington (15.91).

Chris Brown of the Bahamas won the men's 400m in 45.93, ahead of Britain's Nigel Levine (46,31).

Shara Proctor of Anguilla and Britain won the women's long jump with a leap of 6.59, ahead of American Funmi Jimoh (6.48).

Britain's Asha Phillip won the women's 60m in 7.25, ahead of Jamaican Aleen Bailey and American Barbara Pierre, both of whom clocked 7.40.

American Nia Ali won the women's 60m in 8.06, ahead of Britain's Tiffany Porter (8.32) and Andrea Bliss of Jamaica (8.45).

At Dusseldorf yesterday, in front of a sold-out crowd, Caribbean athletes had to settle for second place.

In the men's 60m, Cuban Yanliel Perez won the men's 60m in a world-leading 6.50, with Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis coming in second in 6.58.

The men's 400m was won by Czech Pavel Maszlak in 45.81, ahead of Chris Brown of the Bahamas (47.27).

Andrea Bliss finished last in her semi of the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.34, and failed to advance.

At the Galan indoor meet in Stockholm yesterday, Mikel Thomas of Trinidad came second in the men's 60m hurdles in a time of 7.86, behind Czech Martin Mazac (7.80).

The women's 200m was won by Sweden's Irene Ekelund in 23.59, ahead of Aleen Bailey of Jamaica (23.68) in second.

Caribbean athletes had to content with second place at another meet in front of a sold out crowd - this time the Birmingham Indoors....

In the women's 60m, Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast won ahead of Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, both clocking 7.10, while Britain's Asha Philip came third in 7.12. The men's equivalent was won by Britain's James Dasaolu in 6.50, ahead of Jamaican Nesta Carter (6.53) and Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis (6.55).

Nigerian Regina George won the women's 400m in 51.78, with Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica coming in second with 52.14. The men's equivalent was won by Britain's Nigel Levine in 45.73, second going to Luguelin Santos of the Dominican Republic (46.08), Jamaican Edino Steele coming in fourth in 46.43.

During the morning session of he first day of the World Indoor Champs in Poland, Jamaicans Kaliese Spencer (52.28) and Patricia Hall (52.19) advanced to the semis of the women's 400m, after finishing first and third respectively in their heats. They will be joined by Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas, who won the third heat in 52.11.

Jamaicans Edino Steele (46.38) and Akheem Gauntlett (46.85) advanced to the semis of the men's equivalent, both finishing second in their respective heats. Steele was beaten by Trinidad's Lalonde Gordon (46.07), while Chris Brown of the Bahamas won the final heat in 45.85.

Lavern Spencer of St Lucia qualified for the final the women's high jump, by clearing a national record 1.95, and Jamaica's Kimberley Williams automatically qualified for the final of the women's triple jump with the best jump of the night (14.35).

During the afternoon session of the first day of the World Indoor Champs in Poland, Jamaicans Patricia Hall (52.84) and Kaliese Spencer (51.58) advanced to the final of the women's 400m final, finishing first and second in their respective semi-finals. Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas finished third in her semi in 51.63, and also reached the final.

Bahamian Chris Brown won his semi of the 400m in 46.20, while Edino Steele of Jamaica came second in his semi in 46.00, as they both advanced to the final. But Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad came fourth in his semi in 46.29, and failed to advance.

Jason Rogers of St Kitts-Nevis won his heat of the men's 60m with a time of 6.59, ahead of Bahamian Warren Fraser (6.61). Jamaica's Kimmari Roach (6.59) finished second in his heat, and also advanced to the next round. He was joined by his compatriot Nesta Carter, who was third in his heat in 6.58. Also advancing from the final heat were Guyana's Adam Harris, second in 6.62, and Kittian Brijesh Lawrence, fourth in 6.63.

Jamaica's Monique Morgan advances to the next round of the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.10.

In front of a sold-out Polish crowd, the morning session on the second day saw Andrew Riley of Jamaica third in his 60m hurdles heat in 7.66, but advancing to the next round....

Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce threw down the gauntlet in the women's 60m, winning her heat by easily jogging to 7.12, ahead of Tareisha Harrigan-Scott of the British Virgin Islands (7.20). Trinidadian Michelle-Lee Ahye came second in her heat (7.14), Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown third in hers (7.22), and they both advanced as well.

The Jamaican team of Nolan, Fothergill, Hyatt and Brown clocked 3:06.12 to finish second in their mile relay heat, and advance to the final.

The Jamaicans ran an indoor national record of 3:29.43 for second in their heat of the 4x400m relay to reach the final.

On another sold-out session, there was a shock win for unhearlded Briton Richard Kilty in the final of the men's 60m in a time of 6.59, while highly favoured Jamaicans Nesta Carter and Kimmari Roach finished outside of the medals. Carter had won the semi in 6.50 ahead of Kilty (6.52), while Roach had clocked 6.55 for second in the other semi. Guyana's Adam Harris (6.59) and Kittians Jason Rogers and Brijesh Lawrence failed to make the final.

The women's 400m was won by American Francena McCrorory in 51.14, ahead of Jamaica's Kaliese Spencer (51.54), while the bronze went to Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas (52.06), with another Jamaican, Patricia Hall, finishing fifth in 52.51. The men's equivalent went to Czech Pavel Maszlak (45.24), ahead of Chris Brown of the Bahamas (45.58), while Trinidad's Lalonde Gordon came in fifth in 46.39.

The women's triple jump was won by Ekaterina Koneva of Russia with a leap of 14.46. ahead of Ukraine's Olga Saladuha (14.45), while the bronze went to Jamaican Kimberley Williams (14.39).

St Lucia's Lavern Spencer came seventh in the women's high jump final with a leap of 1.94.

The women's 1500m was won by Sweden's Abeba Aregawi in 4:00.62, while Nia Ali of the US was the surprise winner of the women's 60m hurldes in 7.80, ahead of favourite Sally Pearson of Australia (7.85), and the GB's Tiffany Porter (7.86).

A good day for the Caribbean...a silver and a bronze for Jamaica, and a silver and a bronze for the Bahamas.
