While Caribbean cricketers were playing the ass in front of three men and a dog at Sabina Park, Caribbean athletes were winning races and performing well in front of a large crowd at the Oslo Diamond League meet last night.

Jamaicans Kaliese Spencer and Novlene Williams-Mills both won their third consecutive Diamond League races to dominate their fields. Spencer won the women's 400m hurdles in 54.94, just ahead of Bahrain's Nigeria-born Kemi Adekoya (54.96), followed by GB's Eilidh Child (55.33), Tiffany Williams of the US (55.61), and another Jamaican, Shevon Stoddart (55.71). Novlene won the women's 400m flat in a convincing 50.06, well ahead of Natasha Hastings of the US (50.60), Botswana's Amantle Montsho (51.05), with another Jamaican, Patricia Hall, coming in fifth.

The men's 100m was won by Trinidad's Richard Thompson in 10.02, ahead of Jimmy Vicault of France (10.04), GB's Adam Gemeli (10.11), and veteran Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis (10.14). France's Pascal Martinot-Lagarde won the 110m hurdles in 13.12, with second going to Jamaican Andrew Riley (13.36), with another Jamaican, Hansle Parchment faded badly to fifth.

American Tianna Bartoletta won the women's long jump with a leap of 7.02, while GB's Anguilla-born Shara Procter took second with 6.78.

In front of a large crowd in New York, made up primarily of Jamaicans, the Caribbean athletes did not disappoint last night.

Warren Weir clocked a world-leading 19.82 to win the men's 200m ahead of his fellow-Jamaican rival, Nickel Ashmeade (19.95).

In an upset result, Jamaican Nesta Carter won the men's 100m in a time of 10.09, ahead of his more highly favoured compatriot, Yohan Blake (10.21), who appeared to slip in the blocks, and Trinidad's Keston Bledman (10.23).

American Tori Bowie won the women's equivalent in 11.07, ahead of Jamaicans Samantha Henry-Robinson (11.13), Schillonie Calvert (11.15) and Kerron Stewart (11.17).

American Francena McCrorory won the women's 400m in a time of 50.15, ahead of Jamaicans Steph McPherson (51.20) and Anastasia LeRoy (51.49).

Jamaican Kimberley Williams won the women's triple jump with a leap of 14.31, while her compatriot Natoya Goule won the women's 800m in a time of 2:00.28.

The Diamond League resumes on Thursday with Lausanne staging a men's 100m featuring Jamaica's Kemar Bailey-Cole and Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis up against the tainted American pair of Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin.

In the women's 100m, Trinidad's Michelle-Ann Ahye will take on Jamaicans Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart. The men's 200m will feature Jamaicans Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade.

The men's 400m will feature Grenada's Kirani James, Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad, and Bahamian Chris Brown. Jamaicans Hansle Parchment and Andrew Riley will take part in the 110m hurdles, while the men's 400m hurdles will feature Trinidadian Jehue Gordon.

In front of a sold-out crowd at the Diamond League meet in Lausanne on Thursday, Grenada's Kirani James clocked a world-leading 43.74 to beat American Lashawn Merritt (43.92) in another top-class duel in the men's 400m.

In another exciting race, Trinidadian Michelle-Ann Ahye won the women's 100m just ahead of Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast, both athletes clocking an impressive 10.98. The men's equivalent was won by American Justin Gatlin (9.80), with compatriot Tyson Gay coming in second with 9.93, while Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis (10.13) was fourth, and Kemar Bailey-Cole of Jamaica fifth in 10.14.

Pascal Martinot-Legarde of France won the 110m hurdles in 13.06, ahead of Russian Sergei Shubenkov (13.13) and Jamaica's Andrew Riley (13.23). In a major shock in the men's 200m, Jamaican Yohan Blake could only manage sixth in 20.48, in a race that was won by Panama's Alonso Edward (19.84) ahead of another Jamaican, Nickel Ashmeade (20.06).

And they come in quick succession...at the Paris Diamond League on Saturday, the men's 100m should feature Trinidadian Richard Thompson up against Jamaicans Nickel Ashmeade, Nesta Carter and Kemar Bailey-Cole.

In the women's 200m, Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will be up against Americans Allyson Felix and Tori Bowie.

In the women's 400m, Jamaicans Novlene Williams-Mills and Steph McPherson will take on Amantle Montsho of Botswana and Americans Sanya Richards-Ross and Natasha Hastings.

Hansle Parchment of Jamaica will go up against Frenchman Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and Americans David Oliver and Ryan Wilson.

Britain's Anguilla-born Shara Proctor will take part in the women's long jump.

At the Diamond League in Paris on Saturday, Jamaica's Hansle Parchment raced to a world-leading 12.94 to win the 110m hurdles, ahead of the top performer in that discipline this year, hometown hero Pascal Martinot-Lagarde of France (13.05).

American Sanya Richards-Ross won the women's 400m in 50.10, followed by Jamaicans Stephanie Ann McPherson (50.40) and Novlene Williams-Mills (50.68).

Mike Rodgers of the USA won the men's 100m in 10 seconds flat, with second going to Trinidadian Richard Thompson (10.08), with Kim Collins of St Kitts-Nevis third (10.10) and Jamaica's Nesta Carter fourth (10.12).

On the first day of the two-day Diamond League event in Glasgow yesterday, there was drama in the men's 100m. Jamaican Yohan Blake pulled up injured, fell to the ground, and had to be wheeled off, while his compatriot Nickel Ashmeade won in 9.97, ahead of American Mike Rodgers (9.97) and another Jamaican, Nesta Carter (9.98). It was a Jamaica 1-2 in the B race, with Kemar Bailey-Cole clocking 10.04, ahead of Kimmari Roach (10.26).

Panama's Alonso Edward won the men's 200m in 20.25, ahead of Jamaican Warren Weir (20.30). Americans Francena McCrorory (49.93) and Sanya Richards-Ross (50.39) finished ahead of Jamaicans Novlene Williams-Mills (50.60) and Steph McPherson (50.98) in the women's 400m.
