NARINE HAS THAT MURALI EFFECT ON THE TEAM!!

Postby AFRO » Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:36 pm

Before Murali came along for SL they weren't much more than minnows, but having someone THAT special in their team seemed to galvanise the rest of his teammates and as the years went on Sri-lanka became better and better, suddenly they believed that winning wasn't impossible, especially on their home turf, because they knew once Murali was hot the chances of them getting the W were high, and i believe Narine is having that same effect on this team,

Let me give you an example, against India we came agonisingly close to winning the first two ODI's but just couldn't get over the line, Narine comes in on debut and BANG, we won and Sunil played a HUGE role in the victory, i don't wanna say we're a one man team, even Sri-lanka wasn't with Murali as they also had good batters, but what the other Sri-lanka players didn't have was the ability to put the same kind of FEAR into the opposition that Murali could, and we're seeing the same thing with Narine now, let us pray that Sunny goes on to be just as effective for us as the great man was for his team.

Let's not jump the gun yet....

Ajantha Mendis had that same impact on the international scene, until the opposition analysed him on video, and worked him out. Only time will tell if he's a new Murali or a new Mendis. In terms of the style of bowler he is, he's more comparable to Mendis than Murali.

And it's one thing to be successful in ODI cricket, but quite another to have success in Tests. Let's see how well he does when he finally gets around to playing a Test match....

You're talking absolute rubbish mike!! , for a start one of the main reasons why Mendis was "figured out" was because his silly run up meant that the batsmen could get set and play him like a medium pacer, Narine on the other hand has a normal walk up to the crease and bowls all his variations without really changing his grip, also his line and length on a consistent basis is way beyond what Mendis could produce,

People wanna compare him to Mendis only because he has the same "mystery" aspect to his game, but their styles are actually very different, Sunil is much more like Ajmal rather than Mendis, the different being Ajmal doesn't have the carom ball that Sunil has or the leg-break either!!,

I have full confidence he will step up at Test level too, he already knows he'll have to be patient, he showed that already in the four day competition, he just kept things nice and tight and kept bowling in the right areas and the wickets came, the same method will bring him wickets at Test level aswell imo, he's not just talented, the yute has INTELLIGENCE to go with it 8-) .

Baby steps, Afro....

Now that the Aussie batsmen have had a good look at him, he went for 55 runs in his 10 overs in this match. Give him time, and don't hype him up too much.
8-)
I feel that Narine shouldn't go to England, because the conditions don't suit spinners in May. Even Swann doesn't like bowling in England in May!

All of the great spinners have at one time or another been accused for pelting and was called up to correct their actions. Murali and Ajmal comes to mind. Both of them as well has probably the most wickets in one format of the game.

And now mr negative wants our best bowler dropped?!!! ..WHAT A SURPRISE!! , the fact is he toyed with Australia IN THE FIRST FOUR GAMES, they had a "look" at him by the third game so why didn't they take runs of him then? the pitch was clearly factor in this last game and no player is perfect in every game they play, but still HE GOT TWO WICKETS which shows the lad has guts,

He finished on top of the wickets tally and also had the best economy, so i'll take that thank you very much and hopefully he'll do the same to your country in May!! 8-) .

The England batsmen seem to think they have Narine figured out....
8-)
Narine needs to wheel and come again, if he doesn't want to be spoken about in the same sentence as Mendis.

What did I say about Narine going to England?

It's very easy talking in hindsight old boy!!..you know like when you claimed Pagon should be in the test team to England?   and what about how Simmons should open aswell? you wanna play these games then be my guest!!,

Furthermore i never banked on the pitches being absolute ROADS when i made those comments!!..but hey you continue to drive your silly agenda.
