Permaul Vs Narine

Postby DMan » Wed Oct 31, 2012 2:45 pm

WindiesIntl #WISvHPC: F. Edwards 7-0-23-2, Rampaul 7-1-13-0, Best 7-1-29-0, Sammy 1-0-1-0, Permaul 18.3-4-37-4, Narine 16-2-48-3, Deonarine 1-0-5-0,...

The stats don't lie. This is WI warm up match before the Bangladesh tour against the Sagicor HPC. Has permaul cemented his spot over Narine here as the preferred test match spinner?

LOL the phony trini turning on Narine again?

One match doesn't prove a damn thing!!.. i would have thought anyone with any sense would know that, otherwise that means Fidel should play above Rampaul and Best in your book!! .

The fact is they are both very talented and i believe they will be a major force when they eventually play together at test level, thats all that matters.

Only time will tell whether Permaul is the real deal.

We need to remember that a mere year ago WI beat Bangladesh in Bangladesh. It remains to be seen whether WI can do better and win both tests.

Will the WI even be bold enough to play both Permaul and Narine? The key to WI winning the one test last year was Fidel Edwards getting 5 for 63 in a Bang 1st innings of 231 in reply to WI 355.

Narine under pressure....
He's played three Tests so far for a bowling average of 31.50. He's going to need to bring it down below 30, if he wants to stave off the threat from Permaul.

To be fair to Narine (and Shillingford) I would discount their performances in the recent England tour.

If we take that one test away from Narine then in 2 tests against NZ he has 12 wickets at 25.67.

I suspect either spinner will take wickets in the Bangladesh tests and unless it's a devastating performance I would not read too much into it.

I assume the named squad will be there for all the games and if so I expect Permaul to get a few games in the ODIs not least because he is a better bat than Narine.

Things will get really interesting when WI go to Australia for the 5 series ODI because I cannot see them playing more than one spinner there. In terms of moving up the ODI rankings the Oz series is significant.

I didn't know the HPC had that much resources to spend on having their batsmen analyze the opposition bowler especially a fellow domestic team and in a practice match to boot. :o
