No one should have been surprised by the West Indies’ departure from the quarterfinals of the Cricket World Cup on Wednesday. Ranked eighth on the International Cricket Council’s one-day internationals table, they fully justified their lowly position in world cricket. The manner of their going, however, has aroused widespread disgust and anger, as they capitulated to a resurgent Pakistan by the massive margin of 10 wickets. As to whether the players feel as humiliated as the cricket-loving Caribbean public, well, that is a moot point.

what is missing from dat article is the fact that hunte and dem knew going-in dat who they pik cud not do the job. but deh don care!

wat else but doh care damm cud it be, when skunt Gibson cusses out the senior players and establishes in the process that the major problem in the mix, Darren Sammys captaincy, would continue.

such commentary by the coach establishes him as a company man, intellecutally in sync with wicb thoughts and plans, which is to build a westindies team into the future with Sammy as captain.

it means that Gibson is in sync with the selection of such players as Devon Thomas and Devon Smith, while better options sit.

Gibson has exposed himself as a dam fool at one stroke, a man in the cente of actions yet blind to all thats going on around him.

this is the 19-fifties all over again in westindies cricket. Julian Hunte is Errol Dos Santos re-incarnated, with all the bad selections in tow.

Dos Santos and Alexander eventually gave way to Worrell, Gomez and Rae. who in the hell looms as a worrell currently?

but Gibson as well as those who emplyed him must go. dat gibson fella as a damm fool indeed!

Good article except they let off WICB and Gibson... Why is Gibson telling off the players only now? Why not after the England and India games?

yu think starbroek would allow decent criticism of the westindies establishment?

Kenya coach Eldine Baptiste said he had no plans to quit even though Kenya failed to win a match at the World Cup.

“Quitting is not in my plans,” former West Indies all-rounder Baptiste told reporters after arriving back from the Indian sub-continent.

However, after being thrashed by opponents such as New Zealand (10 wickets), Pakistan (205 runs), Sri Lanka (nine wickets) and Zimbabwe (161 runs), former players are calling for a change.

“This is the time to take action and send the coach packing,” former captain Edward Tito told Reuters.

the way Gibbo has spoken clealry indicates that there is a plan in place, before this wurl skup, to re-orgainse the westindies team n terms of the players who currently make-up the team.

that seems obvious to me now!
