Two very promising young players from the same country who are very similar in both departments. Who's better?
Based on performances this season, I'd say that Carlos has the edge on him. With Russell on the scene now in the senior team, it'll be difficult for either of them to make a senior team debut anytime soon unless Russell (or Bravo) fails miserably. This situation is compounded with the automatic inclusion of Sammy in the starting 11.
This is excellent for the WI as a whole with all this talent around, but I'm afraid some very good players may have to wait on the sidelines of the senior team fir quite a while.

Different players imo, firstly this was Holder's debut season at first class level whilst Brathwaite has been plying his trade in Ireland (his team mate was that young spinner named Dokerell who's played against WI both in the t20 world cup and the ODI world cup), i'd say Brathwaite is a little faster but he's also the shorter man too, and he can bat better aswell, out of Russell, Holder and Brathwaite i'd say Carlos is the only genuine allrounder of the three, cuffman wrote:Two very promising young players from the same country who are very similar in both departments. The other two can bat well themselves but i'd say they were more of a Jerome Taylor i.e a guy who is capable of hitting the odd 40 down the order rather than Dwayne Bravo who we actually depend on to make runs,
All in all we're lucky to have these guys coming through right now and they can only improve with experience, the funny thing is the best alrounder might be a kid you haven't even named and that's Raymon Reifer, he's a decent left-arm pacer and he can bat high up the order too, he's only 19 years old but he done very well for CCC this season.

Well, according to what is stated on cricinfo, this is Carlos' first season of FC cricket as well. Did he get a contract or something to play in Ireland? Or was he going to school there?AFRO wrote:Different players imo, firstly this was Holder's debut season at first class level whilst Brathwaite has been plying his trade in Ireland (his team mate was that young spinner named Dokerell who's played against WI both in the t20 world cup and the ODI world cup), i'd say Brathwaite is a little faster but he's also the shorter man too, and he can bat better aswell, out of Russell, Holder and Brathwaite i'd say Carlos is the only genuine allrounder of the three, cuffman wrote:Two very promising young players from the same country who are very similar in both departments. I wasn't aware that Raymond Reifer was regarded as being in the allrounder category. With all this talent in the BIM set-up, they really have no excuse for not doing better next season, that will be obscene wastefulness in midst of such an abundance of talent. So I take it that you expect big things of this Reifer in the future.

BTW: You think Carlos will get a look-in anytime soon?

Ruel Brathwaite...yet another young prospect who's turned his back on Windies cricket, following the trend set by Chris Jordan, Maurice Chambers, Robbie Joseph, etc. I hope Chesney Hughes doesn't follow their lead....
Let's look at these two a little closer this season....
Carlos Brathwaite, eight matches, 26 wkts at an average of 19.46, 265 runs at an average of 22.08.
Jason Holder, six matches, 15 wkts at an average of 23.66, 95 runs at an average of 11.87.
So, after this season, I'd say that Brathwaite definitely has the edge. Carlos is 22 and Jason is 19, but both have more to do if they want to get into the Windies team. Neither are Test-material at this stage, but could feature in ODI cricket as bits-and-pieces players, if they add a little more to their game.

Yeah it's Carlos's first FC season in the Caribbean but he's been playing league cricket in Ireland since 2009 for Leinster!!.. HERE'S the evidence, so needless to say he's got way more experience than young Jason Holder, Jason really does have tons of potential though and he could be another Garner if he works hard on his game and adds a yard on his pace (he did in his last few games for Bim),cuffman wrote: Well, according to what is stated on cricinfo, this is Carlos' first season of FC cricket as well. As for Raymon Reifer, until this season i also thought that he was just a middle order batsman but in his debut season he managed to pick up 6 wickets for CCC inluding a lovely 4fer, and with him only being 19 one must imagine he'll pick up plenty more wickets in the years to come.
In closing i think Carlos will be very hard done by if he's not in the next A-team, if he continues to tear it up then the senior team will be just around the corner imo, he could be better than Dwayne Bravo in a few years imo.

Like i've told you a million times before Mike CHRIS JORDAN NEVER TURNED HIS BACK ON WI!!mikesiva wrote:Ruel Brathwaite...yet another young prospect who's turned his back on Windies cricket, following the trend set by Chris Jordan, Maurice Chambers, Robbie Joseph, etc. I hope Chesney Hughes doesn't follow their lead....

Ruel Brathwaite did try to play for WI but was getting messed around by CCC and decided to take a chance in county cricket, can't blame him to be honest, but i bet if Bim came calling he'd jump at the chance to come back, and lastly Maurice Chambers!!.. good riddens to that fool, he played for the England Lions in the recent four day competition and only took ONE WICKET!!
