one game remained and all of dem rarse and dem cud not wait to start with all the praise and praise and praise..... and it completely undermined the youngsters
and all this from the oldr ones, those who are supposed to be leaders, qaulified, older and calmer heads, full of patience etc. deh cud not ait to priase and limelight themselve sin the aura sorrounding the kids, to steal some for demslves...
this too is part f westindian corruption that has resulted in our total failure.

WI always have good young talent coming through at this level but most of the players fail to go on further. Why are our players failing to make the transition ?mr. cricket wrote:have a look at the score card first anthony alleyne didnt play and mayers unfortunately got run out for 16 it happens...they deserve praise they have shown what windies future players will be like

the decade of 2000 was for WI what 1990s were for England...u see....it happens or for that matter look at australia...losing everywhere...is it the end of aussie cricket certainly not....it often happens....once legends retire teams find it hard to find replacements....but WI hav e started developing systems now like HPC and A team tours...it will help them....infact it is already helping them....i have never seen so many talented cricketers coming up the ranks....in the last 10 years which talented cricketer failed to make it big....they were all ordinar with the exception of odd one......its only now that WI has started to produce gems like bishoo bravo roach brathwaite etc

I was following this series on cricinfo and was heartened to see the performance of the opener Brathwaite and a few of the other players. all in all I wasn't so upset about this final game loss as for a measure of ability I was heartened that they beat the Aussies in the one-dayers and mini-tests. And I know that Australia don't send mooks to represent them at anything
.
What concerns me though is the possibility that all our good batsman are coming through one-by-one and so if they do eventually rise to greatness they will be forever like lone stars shining in a dark night. These players need to start knowing each others games inside out.
Look at what happened to Lara and Chanderpaul (I do not class Chris Gayle in the same company because of his inconsistency and lack of team ethic remains a big feature of his play till now) those two guys scored so many runs in losing causes it must be soul destroying. So I think we need to get these young players to start to develop good inter-personal relationships with each other. Anyway, however it is managed we need to have more than one great batsman in our future teams.

the principle of the compeletion of the job at hand is critical, before the noise starts eiher way!
that discipline is critical
there was a time when westindies used to lose every last test as soon as a series was won. it wasnt important to go all the way through until Worrell deliberately inculcated it...playing strongly to the last ball of any series.
Lloyd carried on and so did Richards. and we lost it afterwards.
we have to regain it
losing this last game was a significant blemish and bad example in an otherwise excellent venture...in my way of looking at it.
no excuses of team selection or run-out acceped!

yeah it was very good to see the overall performance....one thing this series proved was that west indies have better talented palyers coming up...not only talented but also strong nerve men...they came from behind to win the odis and in tests as well after conceding 350 to complete a convincing win was very good...i hope to see barath brathwaite simmons bravo and mayers play for WI soon

That's a MYTH imo, the last batch we had was Darren Bravo, Pollard, Roach, Barath, Kieran Powell, Permaul etc and they've all come through and done well, but let me tell you this!!.. THE NEXT BATCH COMING UP ARE THE BEST SET OF YOUNGSTERS WE'VE HAD SINCE WE LAST DOMINATED THE GAME, i really believe it, and the good thing is there is talent in all positions, as long as these yutes are given a chance to play and guided in the right way there's no way they will slip through the cracks.Huckle wrote: WI always have good young talent coming through at this level but most of the players fail to go on further.
