I want to suggest respectfully to Darren Sammy how he can become a hero to West Indies cricket fans and be remembered forever as a person of concern for the common good, instead of having to withstand an unending barrage of criticism and humiliating comment.

whoever it is on thr guardian, they are reading the fan. they saw us hear advising Sammy to resign and they have picked up on it.

I dont know about the nice man question though. people always have a choice unless its slaveyr and it is do or be killed.

Sammy had the choice from the start not to participate in huntes nonsense.

if he was attracted by the lot of land he was given for his 'achievement' being named westindies cappo...by now it would seem he could easily afford more than a lot of land from the money has already earned from cricket.

glad to see them smarteneing up then!

I wun hold my breath fuh sammy doh. he is not a decnet fellow but like everybody esle. where can screw up he will. and where he can help he wont!

also lemmih correct dem on Goddard too, in 1957, fifth test in england.

Goddard did no alturistic thing and sat down in the fifth and fainal test. he duly played as old, incompetent captain, bowled 23 overs in the first innings and thereafter took no further part in the game.

I dont know who took over as captain..probably Walcott. but John Goddard started all 5 tests in that series as captain.

as far as I know no appointed westindian captain ever sat out a test match due to form and questions about his ability to meet the required standards.

up to Worrell they were all white save Headley appointed for 1 test in 1948, but could not play due to injury.

the white captains were appointed not on ability per se., but on skin colour. those would not have sat down for any such reason as sammy is required to sit down now. that was not an issue at all and would never have happened.

subsequently all westindies capos were appointed on ability..or preseumed ability in the case of Richardson...certainly on defginite ability to make the team first of all.

so I dont know what that write is talking about!

MM Worrell 11 3 26 0 2.36

DT Dewdney 15 2 43 1 2.86

S Ramadhin 53.3 12 107 4 2.00

GS Sobers 44 6 111 1 2.52

JDC Goddard 23 10 43 1 1.86

yuh see dat bowling side...only 3 real bowlers! I dont know why Gilchrist isnt in here. he must have been injured.

but there is only Ram, Dewdney an innocuous medium... and Sobers in there. Sobers because he was first picked as a bowler...slow left arm, orthodox spinner

Sammy, who are you kidding? "If I didn't think that I was capable to do the job, I wouldn't take it" This Guy is one of its kind, brazzen, arrogant and full of himself. He mixed too much with another mediocre Jerk Ottis Gibson until some of Gibson's crude, rough and vindictive traits rubbed off on him. The whole selection pannel is a bunch of waste, who were themselves mediocre cricketers to say the least. the Butts, the Haynes, the Brownes and of course the main one Ottis Gibson.
Gibson knows he cannot talk cricket to Chanders, Sars or Gayle, they were once captains for the West Indies, so he influnenced Dr Boards (Hilarie) to appoint Sammy as his lap- dog , making him captain of the West Indies. Sammy, I am sure you know you cannot command any respect from the three ousted players and former captains simply because you are not in their league. You know you can't make cut, yet for all you had the balls to ask Chanders to sit out for two games in the WC. That to my mind is tantamount to treason. What you are perpetuating right now, is to carry out Gibson's years of anger and bitterness for not being able to make the cut as a regular test player. In Gibson's only two test matches, he took two wickets at a cost of 95.1 runs per wicket. It that good or mediocre ? and yet he thinks he has the goods to be a coach for both batting and bowling. Sammy , with such a bowling skill as Gibson, he would produce lots and lots of Sammys, who can't bat nor bowl.lloydmicrophone

Having read the 'Cozier: Change and no change' article i note that by prior agreement Sammy's tenure as captain runs through 'to end of the Digicel Series 2011'. It therefore seems highly unlikely that he will be omitted from the team on the grounds of poor form.
