Although nobody should be written off in life, I have not seen anything in his performances to warrant his place in the team.mapoui wrote:I dont think work with Haynes will help him at this level.
edwards is just plain not good enuff! he is already 25 or older!
Are the selectors thinking that since the one-day series is dead so it is pointless to try another player? What a silly thought!

I don't think anyone wants to write off Edwards... Given his meek stats in the shorter form of the game, does it make sense to invest in him at this time?
Maybe he should go back and work on his game in this form. What is the likelihood he average more than his list A games?

the way I look a it a 28 average over a several years in dung heap simply cannot be translated into a 40+ at the international level in any form of the game.
kirk edwards is not 18 or 19 but 26. one assumes that he has been playin all along and n the bim team for some years.
there is no way he is good enuff! end of story! I am happy he got a chance although he wud not have gotten it from me as a selector.
but like players like parchment, findlay before him he is simply not good enuff! going back to work on his game is pintless.
one assumes dat dat is what he does all the time anyway and he is still not good
I invite him to make a lier out of me today!

Well Mr. Edwards you have just contributed 40 runs in an unbroken stand of 140 with Lendl Simmons (77) to win the 5th one-day game against Pakistan by 10 wickets.
While I will not be eating my hat anytime soon over the criticisms I have voiced regarding your batting performances to date, I don't begrudge you any pride you must be feeling with this performance. If this is indeed the start of you finally putting in performances worthy of the selectors faith in you - then by all means bring it on.
Oh and we want you to always score runs in winning efforts. Understand??? So once again congratulations and well done...
mek i guh fix meh dreads in meh hat now and drink a cold beer in toast of your performance. Nice one.
P.S. Now you you know why I can't eat my hat

I like this guy at the crease. I can't see any pictures of his game but his presence at the wicket is becoming a source of reassurance. So much so that it looks like i will be doing a lot of hat-eating courtesy of Mr. Edwards if he sticks around in the team. He is now batting with Shivnarine Chanderpaul as he did earlier this year whilst scoring his maiden test hundred.
Different continent. Different pitch. Same result? I hope so!

Kirk seems to have less natural ability than the likes of Darren Bravo, or even Brathwaite and Powell, but he more than makes up for that with a determination to keep his wicket, and accumumate runs....
