The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has placed improved relations with the West Indies Players Association (Wipa) high on their list of priorities which will form part of their Strategic Plan 2011-2016 currently before the six major regional cricketing nations for discussion. Both major stakeholders in the regional game have been at loggerheads for almost a decade now and Dr Ernest Hiliare, chief executive officer of the WICB, wants this to end. Hiliare was speaking at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) on Wednesday night as he explained the strategic plan and received suggestions and answered questions from members of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) and its affiliates including National League clubs, the Women’s Cricket Association, Tobago clubs, Primary and Secondary Schools, Umpires and Scorers’ Association, sponsors and the media. Hiliare, a St Lucian who studied international relations for his doctorate, is visiting the major cricket playing territories to garner feedback on the strategic plan from the stakeholders. The feedback will be documented and presented to the WICB board of directors later this year.

how can there be improved relations between 2 fundamentally opposed entities?
first the contradiction must be worked away. bu t in the cse of the westindies dat can happen 2 ways..a social revoltuon the eliminates one side of the equation in a new social organsatin that replaces the old.
or in the institution of a nationalist state in which the local elites accept responsibility for the region on its own shoulders and those of the people of the region, which brings their continued social position squarely in line with the suceess of a regional state.
the state is successful by their leadership then they survive as leadership class. the state is not successful which failure cud be attributed only to their leadership... they are tossed.
thats real indepence..when a state and its people have accepted fully, responsibility for themselves in the world, and seek always to effect this responsibilty to the max.
its time for the westindies to make their natural nation official, to accept independence for itself, make a living off our own resources and shed our dependence on gifts and handouts from the powers that be. it is time for us to earn our way in the world, so that all we do and the way we do it is never dependent on what ole' marse or anyone else wants.

in that way there cud never be a problem as it has evolved between the players and the administration for they wud both be pulling in the same direction when it came to the organisation of the game and in unity and winning
ole marse' does not want anything like westindan unity.
the westindian elites dependent on ole marse, have worked out a regional unity at the top dat suits and benefits them, while effecting disunity at the bottom and in the middle of westindian society.
that is why the poliial elites never interfere with the administration of the cricket for it reflects exactly what they want in the region..disunity of the ordinary people.
if deh were forced to accept westindian independence, with no forrin power to exploit them, to which power they can be subservient for protection and the perks they needed to maintain their class status....then they wud be forced to live by the quality of work they did as a social leadership class for the benfit of the people, with no possibility of any other nation coming to their defence if they effed up, and the people rose against them.
that is much the way the independent way Kiwi and Oz function socially...which is why the fights between Oz and Kiwi players with their administrations are different to those of the westindies. theirs are fights between between the people in nations of far greater independence than the westindies have accepted for itself.
in the westindies when the players fight the wicb they are also fighting still, Britain and the USA whose interests find expression in the region, in the policies of the westindian elite classes as represented by the politicans in government, and in the leadership of all westindian institutions of which cricket is one.
that does not happen anywhere else in the cricket world anymore. dat kind of thing is now uniquely westindian, very backward indeed and most shameful in the world.
and all the rest of the world are aware of whats going orn in the westindies, our bakwardness and abject psycophancy, relative to ole marse. dat is why deh have all lost respect for the westindies..they know we have refused to stand up like an independent people and that our troubles stem from dat fact and wont change until we until we accept our independence
