HOW DOES OUR BOWLING UNIT RATE?

Compared to the other teams? watching SL struggle to take a wicket yesterday made me wonder how our lot would have coped against England aswell!!, when you look at the recent stats we went to SL who have one of the best batting orders in the world and MADE THEM FOLLOW ON, we took out Pakistan easily in the first Test and had a golden chance in the second Test until we became sloppy and let the tail wag,

In my opinion the only attack who are better than us right now is South Africa!!, Morkel and Steyn are a joy to watch, it remains to be seen how Imran Tahir does for them in a Test match though, regardless BISHOO will always be a better prospect than him , Pakistan's look ok but i feel we made them look better than they actually are, take away Ajmal's chucking and they don't look that good imo,

So to me it's vital that Gibbo finds the right blend and keep trying to improve them, Rampaul looks sensational right now, Sammy has chipped in and Bishoo is bound to improve the more he plays, the only question mark is over Roach, he looked lousy against Pak and he needs to find his spark again, if not then Taylor or Edwards should step in.

I think our bowling reserves are in good health....

It's our batting that's a cause for concern.

westindies still need a captain who can play.

sammy is still a disuptive, weakening factor and until he is removed there will be hell finding balance and playintg the most effective bowling combination we can muster.

for example here is no doubt at all the the inclusion of edwards would have made roach a better bowler in the tests...make the attack a far more penetrative one.

with edwards and his experience in the attack, the Pak tail could not have wagged at all. we wud have had them for less than 200 secod test and won that match.

but edwards was left out for sammy...even if sammy took wickets himself. but he cud not dislode the last pair and edwards would have.

taylor although not available would also have made short work of the Pak tail. Taylor and Edwards... especially taylor who may be coming into his best years as is rampaul.... must play for westindies to win.

Suleiman Benn also must be there or there-abouts.

In terms of quick bowlers, I honestly believe WI have an emergent crop of quickies that are very enviable indeed! When you think about the recent perfomances of Rampaul, Roach in Sri Lanka and Australia, Fidel when onsung and Taylor when fit and in form...it really makes you fantacize about some serious fast bowling carnage. Add to that the likes of Shannon Gabriel, Jason Dawes, Brandon Bess and Nelon Pascal etc. and we really do have some seirous depth in the quick department.

As for the spin department, we have some potentially very good left orthodox in the making: Permaul, Kantasingh, Mathurin and you can add to that Benn as well. Bishoo has been an absolute revelation for us in the leg-spin department. It's dizzying to think that we have more depth in that department with the likes of Amir Khan, Yannic Cariah and Nkruman Bonner all young and still developing.

So yes, I think that we have the talent pool in almost every department to field a competitive bowling unit that can stand its own against any batting line-up thrown at them in international cricket. Sri Lanka on the othe hand have some massive problems in all areas of their bowling...they look worse that a club side attack without Murali, Vaas and Malinga. Very soon we'll pass them in the rankings as well!
