WHATS YOUR TEAM TO PLAY BANG?

Later this year we'll be travelling to Bangledash for a series so what's everyones team to start the first Test?
To me this is the perfect opportunity to try a few different things, obviously we can't take Bang lightly as they'll be looking to spring an upset here, especially with them being at home, plus they'll want revenge after what we did to them at the World cup,
Anyway for me these guys should play
Barath
Brathwaite (good experience for the yute)
Edwards
Darren
Chanders
Samuels
Baugh-Dowrich-Corbin (wk)
Russell (lets try him out in the allrounder role)
Rampaul
Edwards-Roach-Gabriel
Bishoo
Baugh has been doing ok but imo his scores have still been average, i'd wait and see how Dowrich and Corbin do for the A-team and if one of them impresses i'd give them a chance, if not then keep Baugh in place,
Then we have the pacers, Edwards done well against India but i'm keen to see if Roach can rediscover his form, because imo when he's on fire he's better than Edwards and less wasteful, i also think Gabriel should be taken with the squad to get some experience, and Kantasingh or Permaul should be taken as a second spin option,
Lastly i'd play Russell in Sammy's position, it would be great to see how much runs he could add to our scores instead of seeing Sammy fail time and time again with the bat, with this in mind i'd give the captaincy to Rampaul, for me he's shown he has the ability to lead, whether by taking wickets at vital moments or hanging on with the tail he's proved that he's a fighter.

Rampaul as cappo is a non-starter. dat wud only ruin the young man rampaul is not captaincy material at all.
I wud rather go back and get Ganga and make him captain, to save rampual for wat he does best...take wickets in bunches.
after years of struggle rampual now find his feet. I am doing nothing to unsettle him

Your notion is just SPECULATION though, not fact, what about if he takes it and GETS BETTER? no-one knows what would happen, if not Ramps then i'd give it to Samuels then.mapoui wrote:Rampaul as cappo is a non-starter. dat wud only ruin the young man rampaul is not captaincy material at all.

wat notion? it is not notional not to recommend Rampaul for the captaincy but good choice based on the evidence available.
Rampaul has been struggling with health for years, had problems with his pace and only this year APPARENTLY cememeted a place in the side.
ad yu want to make him captain
dats illogical.
it wud be better to retain sammy than appoint Rampaul. and dat is precisely wat is going to happen...the rentention of sammy. his countrymen run the show and dat is why he is captain. as long as deh remain in charge sammy will be captain unless some greater power intervenes
and sammy or not rampaul will not be captain becuase of the illogicality of the it. and neither will samuels or baugh who are even more illogical than Rampaul
sink or swim, team imbalance or not sammy looks like the man...and the only man for the job...unless Ganga is going to be called up

Laudable suggestions, Afro, but I just can't see the WICB agreeing to trying a few things out....
Sammy will stay as captain and play in the side, so I feel it's fruitless suggesting otherwise. I've given up speculating on what I'd like the squad to be, and instead here's what I think the squad will be....
1) Adrian Barath
2) Lendl Simmons/Kraigg Brathwaite
3) Kirk Edwards
4) Darren Bravo
5) Shiv Chanderpaul
6) Marlon Samuels
7) Carlton Baugh (kept well, and batted well towards the end of the series)
8) Darren Sammy
9) Ravi Rampaul
10) Fidel Edwards
11) Dev Bishoo
12) Kemar Roach
13) Andre Russell
14) Shane Shillingford/Suleimann Benn
Sadly, I just can't see Gayle getting back in the side any time soon....

Also was Sammy "established" in the team before he became captain? NO!!, so why can't Rampaul be given the same chance?!!

Don't see them picking Benn or Shilly at all, i think those ships sailed a long time ago, i agree that Gayle is done and probably Sars and Nash too, think they'll take Permaul as the next spinner because he's been doing very well with the A-team and HPC, and we'll be taking a 15 man squad i so i guess there will be an extra place for another wicketkeeper maybe?!!..unless they use Simmons as the reserve keeper.mikesiva wrote:Laudable suggestions, Afro, but I just can't see the WICB agreeing to trying a few things out....

wat is this...mikesiva is dat yu..an' AFRO lovey dovey!?Laudable suggestions, Afro, but I just can't see the WICB agreeing to trying a few things out....
the rampaul suggestion as cappo is no good. the others are..save my keeping combo wud include Baugh and Corbin..not Dowrich.
it wud be be right to walk with Braithwaite on this easier tour... there wud be no intent to play him in the test and if he had to play regardless, then Bang cannot be too hard on him.
I am not happy at all with simmons and if he is not pikked I wont be unhappy.
I am suprised by Baraths careless attitude and soft dismissals. he is good but must buck up, stiffen up his appraoch..hold on to his wicket.
Darren Bravo is very good indeed. the young man is very talented and I hope this last rounds here has taught him to try and keep his wicket, to be flexible at the crease, to be patient when necessary etc.
if an extra spinner is picked I think Benn is he best of the remainder. but I wont quarrell if any of the younger others are preferred.
the team all but selects itself. deh will focus on youngsters. bt I do wish we had an experienced opening batsman to fall back on

wat is the problem with comprehension here?Excuse me do you know what "notion" means? IT MEANS IT'S JUST YOUR OPINION, not a FACT, furthermore you talk about Rampaul just "establishing himself" but he's only missed one of the last five Test series, he played in Australia and he played against South Africa, the only one he missed was the Sri-Lanka tour, then he played at the world cup and against Pakistan and India, so it's not like the man is new to the team like Kirk Edwards and Bishoo,
Also was Sammy "established" in the team before he became captain? NO!!, so why can't Rampaul be given the same chance?!!
I never said rampaul did not play those series. but in them he struggled mightily and played only due to to injury to others... esepcially Taylor.
in Oz rapual and and dat very tall guy from Antigua both cud not cross 125 mph in pace. I watched dat series wholly.
this season is the first time rampaul has been fully fit consistently, and for the first time he has consistenly approached 90 mph. and for the first time his success assures his selection first. in his own right...not in place of injured others.
