[quoteallyuh listen up carefully:

One rates a player based on:

Average, longevity, consistency, dependability and dominance.

If you were to assess points based on those categories, Chanderpaul Shivnarine is in the top 5.

Those categories more or less eliminate the likes of Headley totally.....allyuh try with he.......he only played 25 odd tests.

If allyuh look at Jimmy Adams average after 25 tests, it was near like 70.............as he continued to play (longevity), u see what happened to him.

So longevity is a huge factor.

Now assign by category and get back to me....bearing in mind that he gets highest marks for longevity and his average better than even Clive Lloyd's, Greenidge, Richardson and Kalli to name a few.

Regards to all!

is spuds a grown man with all the experience I credited him with?

it does not read so from this! let spuds go through Headleys stats again and rate his dependability. den let him come back on dat one alone

in fact all the categories he has listed as criteria let him really justify chanderpaul as top 10 wen it come so!

chandrpaul can be said to have dominated an attack once in his whole career...a ton in 69 balls.

and dat ton was so out of character, it can be argued to have been an act of desperation in the face of total Oz domination of the westindies..a domination which asserted itself by getting shive out and continuing the throttling Laras .

shives ton, in tandem with sarwan in the last test of that series which westindies won can be argued as a much better and more consistent effort, than that 69 baller

shive is a great westindian batsman...among a great many great westindian batsmen.

shive may rightfully lin the top 10 not top 5. but to fall wherever in the greatest among westindian batsmen is an honour indeed.

there is no other batting pantheon in cricket that is comparabe

India has 3. Oz have Bradman, Ian Chappell, maybe Ponting and Ian chappell. the english have who...Hutton, Hobbs, Compton, May, cowdrey, Dexter, Gower, Gooch, Gattting, vaughn, Pietrersen, Cook, Trott, Lamb, Graveney, Barrington, Boycott?

I dont see any of those as truly great,,,maybe Gower, Cowdrey, Boycott?

Pak have Haniff, Miandad, Majid Khan! I see those... 2 especially Miandad and haniff as great! I have problems with Youssef, Zaheer, Inzaman and others.

the saffies have Graeme Pollock. the Kiwi have Martin Crowe and Glen Turner...

but westindies have: Headley, Worrell, weekes, walcott, Sobers, Kanhai, Viv, Lloyd, Lara, Shive, Greenidge, haynes, hunte, Chanderpaul
