Well the yute hit his fourth Ton for Derbyshire today with a lovely knock of 167 to rhatid!! , HERE is the scoreboard!!..i believe he will eventually replace Chanders and him along with Brathwaite, Barath, Darren and Kirk should form the base of a very tough batting order in the next three to four years.

Chesney has to play for the Leewards first, but given the opportunity to play him in the first two four-day games this season, Leewards chose not to pick him....

There was a lot of bad blood arising out of this decision, so don't be surprised if Chesney turns his back on Leewards cricket after being ignored like that.

I'm hoping he gets picked for the A-team soon, we MUST tie his future down quickly otherwise England will snatch him up before we can even blink.

I trhink i saw this "Chesney for England" possibility mentioned elsewhere on the forum, however as per my observations I think that England done with picking batsmen of afro-caribbean heritage. Why i say this? They have the pickings of white players of Irish, South African and to a lesser extent Australian birth, therefore I think that Chesney would have to be very, very, very special indeed to get a nod;and he would HAVE to deliver from ball one once selected for the test team.

With these comments in mind I remind myself that Michael Carberry was the last afro-caribbean batsman to play for England - and i doubt he will get a look in again. Based on these thoughts I think that Chesney should nail his flag to the WI mast irregardless of any blandishments the England setup may offer. However, whatever his choice I wish him luck.

Yeah i get what you're saying, but Chesney himself has claimed England are trying to convince him to play for them, whatever the case he's stated that his heart belongs with WI so hopefully the WICb will get their ass in check and put the boy in the A-team as soon as possible.

The issue with Chesney is not between playing for England and playing for Windies, but between playing for Derbyshire and playing for Windies....

Right now, as a resident of a British colony, he's playing for Derbyshire as an English player. If he gets into the WI team, he will automatically become an international player, and the counties are only allowed one international player. Derbyshire will be keen for Chesney to remain English as long as possible.

The question is this: will Chesney be keen to give up his county contract to play for the West Indies?
