Ford, who coaches Dolphins, said Gayle's experience would help the younger players in the side. "Chris has an amazing record as a player and will not only bring a huge amount of flair and excitement to our cricket but will also bring a vast amount of experience and knowledge, which will greatly assist the progress of our younger players," Ford said.

Would never begrudge a human being doing whatever is necessary to make an honest living, however Chris ought to be acutely aware that his growing status as a sort of 'bat for hire' does not in any way advance his status as a great West Indian batsman (imho).

I don't care what fantastic things he does for these foreigners, it is as a West Indian player that I long to see him ply his trade with mastery, discipline and distinction. I guess that he couldn't give two figs for what I think, however in the final analysis the record books will tell the tale. So good luck Chris but your report card will always be marked 'could do better' in my books - and I am certainly not alone in having a rounded opinion of his abilities and application as a WI player.

Will he ever play for West Indies again? Who knows, but I certainly dont think that decision is solely up to the WICB! The Major teams he has represented are as follows: West Indies, ICC World XI, Jamaica, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Stanford Superstars, Western Australia, Worcestershire.

Hi mapoui, thanks for the feedback. In that post I was beginning to share my thoughts on a number of things.

Chris Gayle is in big demand by all these various franchises for his cricketing prowess but the West Indies team has been without his services. True, nobody can say for sure that if Chris had played in the games against India and Pakistan West Indies would have fared better but what we can most certianly say is that whatever is going on between him and the WICB must be pretty serious because as grown men - with the interests of WI cricket at heart (ALLEGEDLY) - they seem unable to sit down and sort it out.

So as a cricket-loving West Indian I will not 'crow' as Chris Gayle jets off to play for whoever it is that is prepared to splash out the cash. If this spat, which leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, continues for much longer Chris Gayle will become an irrelevancy. And what then? As for his legacy, in my mind, it will always be tinged with 'if only' followed by a sigh.

Let us look at this saga from an International perspective. Today he plays Delhi or Bangalore or de Dolphins or whoever and they will applaud when he does well for them. Tomorrow when he plays for the West Indies and they get his wicket first ball to some damned indisciplined cricket they will be damned glad! True some might wish that they could've seen a few of his biffs and baffs of the cricket ball but not too much! So in the end the WI team and we West Indians will continue to be the laughing stock!

So I hope that Chris and de board and de management team dem can sort it out, if not then we should move on and pick somebody else. Let him go make his living - dat is his right and me not grudge him dat. But his ongoing spat with the wicb stinking up the place. Elsewhere on this site i already call for the whole lot of dem to be gotten rid of cos dere appears to be too much bad blood. I mean de wicb; de wipa the whole lot.
