I really don't understand how Gibson can be so 'upbeat' about these two 20/20s when England are clearly taking them more seriously than the WICB are....
Interestingly, Kieswetter and Buttler are Somerset players who were required to play for England in these two "pointless" 20/20s, and they will only be released to join Somerset in India tomorrow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is Kieswetter a centrally contracted player? I don't think Buttler is....
In contrast, the Big Three of Gayle, Pollard and Big Bravo are not centrally contracted, and they've chosen the Champions League over these two internationals. The centrally contracted Trinidadians such as Lil Bravo and Rampaul have also been given permission to play for Trinidad, as well as other WI contenders Barath, Simmons and Ramdin.
So, should these WI players have given priority to these "pointless" 20/20 internationals? Or were they right to focus mainly on the Champions League?
IMHO, I think it comes down to financial security, and English players know that if they become an England regular, their financial future is secured, and they're quite prepared to give England priority. In comparison, the West Indies payscales are significantly less, and therefore it was no question in the minds of all the eight above-named West Indians that the Champions League should take precedence....
By the way, if you see a depressed, middle-aged guy wearing a Maroon West Indies shirt at the back of the Bedser stand on the TV screens, that will be me....
good point Mike but the T&T players Bravo and Rampaul kind of representing WI at the CL. The problem between England and West Indies cricket setup is management.

That game needs to be investigated...I hear that this victory was part of Gibbo severance package deal...now the deal is completed...it will be back to reality....
