Don't want to go off-topic but i just did a bit of hat-eating over on the Kirk Edwards topic and was thinking to add something about whether Darren Bravo's position was under threat if Gayle returned to the squad. Bearing in mind the lesson Edward's is dishing out, I am reminded to be objective in all I say, however if these newer players out players are showing signs of dependability then on the basis of his relative failures Bravo's place ought to be in question.
Realistically, I don't see Gayle coming back into the side any time soon....

And in Gayle's absence, nobody's really knocking at the door for Lil Bravo's place. Also, KB and Powell may have batted well today, and Kirk may be doing so now, but we have a three-Test series coming up in India shortly, and after that series I believe all four batsmen will have question marks over their places in the side. I see only Shiv and Marlon making runs in India, sadly....

BOundary to Kirk, and he gets his half-century!
Nonsense Mike!!.. kirk already has a ton to his name against India, and i'd expect the tracks over their to be similar to the one he got his ton on, Darren also got a few 50s against them aswell, on Cricketweb (by the way why was you banned from there? ) the Indian fans are NOT HAPPY with their bowling attack, they think it's weak, so i guess we'll have to wait and see.

Shiv out cheaply, caught behind off Nasir for 18....

This is suddenly Bangladesh's day.
Only an absolute IDIOT would think it's their day Mike!!..we're 253 WITH TWO OF OUR BEST BATSMEN AT THE CREASE and two others who are more than capable of putting together 60-70 runs (Sammy and Baugh), so i'd say we edged the day, i'm hoping we reach 400 and then we'll see what the bang top order are all about.

Bravo's poor run with the bat continues....

He's out lbw to Nasir for 12.
"Bravo's poor run"? did he not get a 24 NOT OUT to save us the other day or was i dreaming?

AND BY THE WAY MIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR FELLOW PENSIONER GRANDPA SHIV? YOU LAMBASTED KRAIGG FOR "NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE PITCH AND WEAK ATTACK" SO WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR HERO?
So, you think 24 not out is a brilliant innings?
I knew your standards were low, but surely not that low....

yes, Shiv failed to take advantage of a good batting track, and that's a shame. It could be that his reflexes are slower as age catches up with him, and he probably needs more practice to get back into good nick. But at least Shiv has earned the chance to have a failure or two. In the previous Test series against India and Pakistan, he scored a total of 304 runs for an average of 51, and remains the top pick for the Windies side in Test matches.

As for Kirk in India, as I've said before, it's one thing to score runs in Bangladesh, it's one thing to score runs at home against India, but it's quite another thing to score runs in India. Kirk may find them hard to make in India....

Remember that Bangladesh made 350-9 on a pitch that offered more to bowlers than this pitch currently does, and we're without Rampaul, so I think Bangladesh can be happy with their day. It's up to us to change our fortunes tomorrow.

Of course India fans are not happy. They've just been thrashed 4-0 by England! But their bowling attack is still good enough to give our batsmen problems, because they are several rungs below England's batsmen....

Good to see you're reading CWF. You won't find me on that racist site again!

What injury does Ravi have? Bishop was very skeptical in announcing this last nite....All in all, glad to see the openers spent a significant amount of time at the crease....Lil B continues to baffle me, I am not sure what his problem is but it looks like he does need help....Shiv will be juss fine...experience is his asset and we all know that he is really not motivated playing against MINNOWS!!!! 8-)

So KEEPING YOUR WICKET when the opposition are going for your throat is a crime now Mike? i guess we should discount Shiv's many low score "not outs" then?!! the fact is Darren was well and truly IN, so i'd imagine he'd have gone on to get at least another 50,

AND YOUR AN ABSOLUTE BIASED HYPOCRITE MIKE!!!.. what Shiv has done in the past is neither here nore there, Brathwaite hasn't got anywhere near the experience of Shiv AND YET HE MADE MORE THAN HIM!!.. didn't you use that logic the other day to justify Simmon's staying in the team over Kraigg? WHAT YOU SAYING NOW OLD BOY?

And if Bang want to be happy with their performance more fool them, we've got four batters left who can take this total beyond 400 i believe, AND AS WE FOUND OUT LAST TIME THE PRESSURE IS DIFFERENT WHEN YOU'RE CHASING, i don't believe they will be the same batting unit we faced in the last game, especially as this track gives the pacers much more to work with, just because the bang pacers look crap it doesn't mean ours will aswell.

Actually that's the first time i've seen your explanation!! , but needless to say i'm not surprised, havent most of the WI fans on that site been banned? i know i had my wars on that forum (with mostly bigots) but the joke is my last ban was because i was moaning about us having to bat in the dark when we played Sri-lanka last December!!.. and those prejudice skunts gave me a one YEAR BAN!! ,

I told them via email that they seem to be picking on Caribbean fans and the response was "we're not even gonna agknowledge that claim".. i replied "of course you won't because often the truth hurts", that was the last i heard from them, my ban is up in month, i'm a legend on there but whether i go back or not remains to be seen, the arrogant Indian fans are already claiming it will be "3-0" so if we win or draw the test series then i'll probably pop in to rub some peoples noses in it!! .

Yeah, when my ban is up there, I'll just go back to call them a bunch of racists, and leave....

I was unhappy with the way they ganged up on you, and got you banned. And I was also unhappy with the way they drove WI fans off the site, and I said as much in one of my last posts or so.

It seems Ravi really is injured, otherwise they wouldn't leave out a guy who always takes our first wicket in an innings. I don't know what's wrong with Lil Bravo - he looks really unhappy out there. As for Shiv, he's motivated by his average, so expect him to bounce back in the second innings, because I'm pretty sure we'll have one....
:D
Personally, I think both Brathwaite and Powell have done enough this Test to earn the right to open the batting against India. Simmons must be cursing his luck when he saw this pitch after his back injury!
But how will these two youngsters fare against an Indian attack in India? I'm really worried about that....

The only two Test series that we've played this year have been against India and Pakistan, so obviously the stats from those two series must be taken into consideration when picking the Test squad against India, and even if you don't think they are important, I know the WI selectors will consider them to be important when making their selections.

Bravo will get picked, but he averaged just 31 in the combined Tests against India and Pakistan, which was mediocre, but still better than most of our batsmen. So far, he averages just 19 against Bangladesh....

With regards to Kirk, I reserve my plaudits until after the three Tests in India.
