One day Tournament Finals , between Trinidad & Tobago was somewhat of a disappointment to me because of the low scores , and the manner in which batsmen lost their wickets . I wonder if this was possibly due to the Pitch not properly prepared , the standard of Cricket in the Region ; or perhaps both .
Whatever the cause ; it just doesnt look good , particular since the Trinidad & Tobago Team has recently returned from an Overseas Tournament . The Supporters of the WICB I am sure can explain all this no doubt . For quite sometime we have been hearing that Cricket has turned a corner , Hell it has turned so many corners , by now it is very obvious that we are going around in a gigantic Circle .
I am looking forward to the Supporters of the WICB regarding the current State of Cricket in the Region , and what measures the WICB is taking and intends to take to raise not only the standard of Cricket in the Region , but also make our Players competitive in the International Cricket Arena .
When our Team starts winning Series against Teams ranked above our Team I will consider that as progress ; that is my yardstick , winning a match here and there cannot in my opinion be considered .

I am awaiting a response my those who suffer with La Tourette Syndrome ; particularly the One who is so stricken he is unable to restrain himself from being foul mouthed . I hope that he starts taking the medication that his doctor recommended .
I want ALL and sundry to understand that any foul language directed to me , I am returning the same sentiments expressed , since the feeling is Mutual . If certain people continue being foul mouthed , it will inform me that they have not yet been diagnosed , so my advice top them is to see a doctor whose speciality is La Tourette Syndrome .

Don't worry, Point, you're allowed to vent here....
It was probably not fair to judge the standard to batting on these pitches, because of late Providence seems to become more and more of a spinner's paradise as the days of a tournament wear on. The returns of the spinners were artificially sent sky-high, while the batsmen's stocks sank accordingly. That creeper which trapped Marshall lbw was not one you would've expected on a pitch for a regional final.
That said, it's no secret that our batting in the region needs a lot of work. But for next year's Super50 tournament, I would like to see it take place on pitches that favour batting over bowling, because, after all, 50-overs cricket is supposed to be a batsman's game. WHen we take part in the World Cup, it will be on pitches prepared for batting, as in the last World Cup in India.

The Trinidad & Tobago Team was not playing by itself . The batting display by most of the Players on both Teams wasnt anything to shout about . This is the essential point I am making . One of the glaring things is the fact that Players in the Region do not use their feet to Spinners , and ultimately that brings about their demise .
Obviously the art of using One's feet to spinners has to be learnt , and it is both the Players and Coaches responsibility to employ this tactic to combat Spinners . One of the truths regarding playing any bowler is that once it has left his hand he cannot pull it back and change the trajectory . My take is that unless the ball is short from Spinners , the batsman needs to play forward and get to the pitch of the ball before it bites on the turf and reaches its optimum spin .
Doing this would prevent the spin from having maximum effect .
What I think is required is that batsmen go to the crease with a belief and confidence that they can combat any Spinner . I think that Vivian Richards always played with the belief that no bowler can get him out . I think the problem is that when Players become victims of Spinners they become fearful of them , and start playing them with Fear and Trepidation , and ultimately bring about their own demise .
This problem in my opinion can be solved by facing lots of Spinners in practise , and using footwork to get to the pitch of balls so that in actual matches , they would be comfortable , competent , and confident using their feet when facing Spinners .
