With all due respect Mike two of them are Tests players (Peterson and Duminy) so i don't see how that's fair, it's like us picking Nash and Sarwan for the A-team, wouldn't make sense, also Heino Kuhn and Farhaan Behardien are 27 and 28 respectively which is older than Edwards, mikesiva wrote: Correction - not many West Indian young batters average 40 consistently....
In comparison to the list Joshua posted above, let's look at the batsmen South Africa have called into their A team to play the touring Aussies in a couple of days' time. Their FC batting averages are appended.
1) Alviro Petersen - 38.82
2) Farhaan Behardien - 40.03
3) Stiaan van Zyl - 43.87
4) JP Duminy - 50.27
5) Dean Elgar - 46.54
6) Heino Kuhn - 44.31
Quite a contrast, eh?
I don't know what other countries use the A-team for but we tend to use it to give YOUNG PLAYERS vital international experience, Edwards, Brathwaite, Powell, Barath and Darren Bravo all had a spell in the A-team and now they are playing for the seniors, so why can't someone like Corbin make that step up aswell? the A-team as a whole isn't that important, it's the individuals who graduate from it that counts, and so far it's been working nicely for us.
