Don't be stupid Mike!!.. Brathwaite, Barath and Powell ARE THE OPENERS NOW, so please get over it!!mikesiva wrote:

If Corbin and Thomas produce runs, AND keep wicket at this level, they could challenge for the Baugh/Ramdin place, while nobody has cemented either opener's spot since Gayle moved away from the scene....

Personally i think Sammy's position could be up for grabs from bowlers who can bat a bit like him i.e Brathwaite and Russell, they do well and it will increase the pressure imo.

Do you seriously think that Powell and Brathwaite have cemented their places at the top of the order? They've just played Bangladesh so far....AFRO wrote:Don't be stupid Mike!!.. Brathwaite, Barath and Powell ARE THE OPENERS NOW, so please get over it!!mikesiva wrote:

Brathwaite has played just three Tests and averages a paltry 16 - that's Simmons territory!
Powell has played only two Tests, and is only slightly better at 22.
They both need to make a significant improvement on those stats if they want to stay at the top of the order, so my assertion stays - there are still vacancies at the top of the order, and both Brathwaite and Powell need to score runs in India to stay in the reckoning. In contrast, Bravo, Kirk, Shiv and Samuels can have some failures, and still be given another series....

YOU NEED TO TAKE THEIR DAMN AGES INTO ACCOUNT THOUGH!!..comparing 27 year old Simmons with an 18 year old just making his way in Test cricket is plain DUMB IMO, furthermore if there was a gang of openers around to create competition then you might have a point, BUT THERE ISN'T, therefore these guys are likely to stay and develop in the team, mikesiva wrote: Do you seriously think that Powell and Brathwaite have cemented their places at the top of the order? You love to judge Kraigg and yet can you name ANY OTHER 18 YEAR OLD in world cricket who already has a test 50 to their name? I VERY MUCH DOUBT IT, so don't give me this "it's only Bang" rubbish!!,
Also i've just heard that Narine may have been left out of the team today!!.. if so then that just sums up those thick fecking selectors!!..THEY ARE UTTERLY RETARDED..

Their ages are irrelevant if you forced ripe them in Test cricket...at this stage, results are what counts....
So, what do you propose, Afro? Let them play and fail in three Tests in India, and keep selecting them for the home series against Australia? No, if they fail in India, question marks will inevitably be raised over their places in the side, and rightly so. Their places at the top of the order are still in question....
WIAvBangA Hyatt blasts a six over mid wicket to bring up the 100 run partnership from 183 balls!
WIAvBangA Danza Hyatt dominating Nur Hossain in that over with a four & a six to take his score to 66*. Windies A are 120/2.
WIAvBangA At the end of the 34th over Windies A are 126/2, with Danza Hyatt on 60* & Nkrumah Bonner on 43*.
Now, this is how you get the attention of the selectors....
Corbin, take note....

Erm BARATH ALREADY HAS A TON IN AUSTRALIA AND A TON IN SL IN THE ODI's, so he's pretty much PROVEN he can perform at the heighest level, if we were to go by your logic then Chanders would have been dropped at the SHOCKING period he had in 2010!!..but you were kissing his rass constantly back thenmikesiva wrote:Their ages are irrelevant if you forced ripe them in Test cricket...at this stage, results are what counts....

Any level headed person wouldn't judge these kids on the India tour alone, BECAUSE THAT'S AS TOUGH AS IT GETS, if Powell and Brathwaite put up some modest scores that would do me, it's how they perform against Aus and NZ at home which would be the time to judge them imo.

WIAvBangA WICKET! 126/3. Sohrawordi catches Bonner off his own bowling. Bonner goes for 43. Hyatt remains with 68*.
Let's see who comes in now...Carter?
Afro, Barath automatically starts if he can stay fit, but he seems to get injured every series....
Brathwaite and Powell had a chance to prove themselves against Bangladesh, and their returns were limited. You might want to give them a run after they fail in India, but I don't think you'd have many supporters in that regard. IMHO, it's critical that one of these two openers produces the goods against India.
WIAvBangA WICKET! 126/4. Captain Islam takes a great catch to remove Carter for 0. Hyatt 68*. Devon Thomas is the new batsman!

Hardly shocking, except if you're comparing him to previous years, when he averaged over 100....

WIAvBangA WICKET! 131/5. Thomas goes, caught by Sohrawordi off the bowling of Robiul Islam! Hyatt 71*, New batsman is Alan Russell!

Aside from Hyatt, this is a missed opportunity for most of the WI A batsmen....
