Wes Hall Youth Cricket League

I will try to refresh memories on how and why the Wes Hall Youth Cricket League was formed in 1967 and the long lasting influence it had on this nation’s young cricketers, north, south, east and west.

Those of us who worked at WITCO in the 1965-75 decade probably never had a more enjoyable job, when company pride was at its peak. Local sponsorship had only just started and WITCO took the lead in everything—the Despers with Rudolph Charles and George Yates up the hill in Laventille; Benson and Hedges Premium Stakes; Broadway 40 over competition; launching “Life” cigarettes with Miss England leading the promotion—and several other initiatives which made us the envy of all. Mapoui, were you in this league or a league of your own?

nar...I wasnt so fortunate! I played in a league called Grey Nichols in central trinidad..chaguanas, waterloo and all the villages in that area

well they really missed on you ... I'm sure you terrified those guys in central Trinidad deh.

by the time wes hall youth leagues came about I was 18-20 already and dreaming about leaving Trinidad.

I do know that wes made a positive impack on the organisation of cricket in Titty and he reains a wellloved figure for it in titty...much like walcott in guyana! there had never been anytghing like what hall organised before him and paid for by witco
