You know things are bad when Mishra has the second best batting average after a four-Test series!
Lessons for India....
1) When key batsmen like Sehwag and Gambhir choose to risk an injury playing IPL, it can have repercussions for subsequent Test and ODI series.
2) When star players like Tendulkar choose to "rest" after playing in the IPL, and skip a Test and ODI tour of the Caribbean, their form might plummet during a Test tour of England.
3) If players like Yuvraj and Zaheer are not "fit" enough for a Test and ODI tour of the Caribbean, despite playing in the IPL, chances are they won't be fit enough to play Test cricket in England.
In short, if you give priority to IPL over Test and ODI cricket, even against the lowly West Indies, chances are it's going to come back to bite you in the you-know-where....
More lickin for India...

Indian authorities may be displaying some kind of split focus here:
deh want IPL to succeed so deh encourged all of dat listed above. most of them are likely heavilly invested in IPL
Indian authority did not mind top players not visiting the westindies. deh appeared to feel dat magically the old folk who inhabit the indian side wud be formful from a rest
after a rest like dat an older player may indeed be formful from just practice...but usually for the first game back. den all fall down as age and unpreparedness catches up. deh have to try and use the actual games as a means of getting demselves fit
Dravid is the only one who kept himself fit and he is the only one who prospered

I see Sehwag as a better player dan dat mike. I see him as having a bit more to contribute for India. however time will tell.1) Sehwag is an opening batsman who makes a lot of runs thru excellent hand-eye coordination, because he has limited foot movement. Now that he's over 30, his reflexes have slowed, and his hand-eye coordination is not as good as it once was. As a result, his lack of foot movement has left him susceptible to good bowling on pitches that assist pacers.
2) Laxman has never been a fitness guru, and now that he's over 30, he's struggling. I don't see much of a future for him.
3) Dhoni's keeping was never great, but it's appalling now.
Laxman seemed spent by yesterday, second innings.
and Dhoni as keeper/captain is a position I suspect India will address quickly in the interim. maybe deh will take off his keeping pads and make him a bowler strickly..who can make a bit of runs

Well, Keith, your all-England team won another fantasy league title for you....Keith wrote:I can bet if Sachin scores his 100th ton today, all of Dravid's achievements would vanish as a snowflake in hell.
