It's fair to say that Simmons has established himself in the T20s and ODI team, but he still has alot to learn in the Test Match arena. He has the strokeplay, but lacks the patience, discipline and shot-selection required to succeed in Test matches. Also because he opens in the shorter formats doesn't neccesarily mean that he's a test match opener. If it was up to me, the only place Simmons would bat in the test match team is six.

Simmons would not survive batting at 6...his mental makeup would not allow him to be productive at this position...If he is not in the Top 4 in the order, play anodda person... 8-)

Westdem, i only suggested number six in test matches, because he's hardly making any kind of impact above that position. Besides, number six in test matches is also crucial to have someone who will most likely be facing the second new ball, at that point of the innings. Simmons has established himself as a newball batsman for Trinidad and i'd be interested to see how he does in that position, but at this point it is all hypothetical, as it is highly unlikely to happen.

Erm i did say if Barath is injured then Simmons should be IN THE SQUAD, doesn't mean he will start though!! :lol: .
