ganga recently has given a lot of reasons to reconsider his place in the scheme of things. I never understood where he stood until he spoke recently

I cant agree with him at all. and if he thought as he now says he does all the time, why was he so cozy with the wicb and all its reps including his mentor Carew, chief selector?

A lot about ganga now fall into place. the ganga personality I now see is what was responsible for the mutiny of the A side he once led to england. such a personality in charge of the westindies side woud rip it apart.

the westindies is not Titty. what such a personality can get away with in the titty side could not happen in the regional side. maybe the wicb made a great move when they went with sammy and not ganga.

if yu going to be captain of the westindies yu must believe in regionalism. Gayle did not and he was all but useless as westindies captain. the wicb was right to take it away from him for that reason alone.

gayle looked out for jamaica at the expense of the westindies. gayle and ganga are the same in that regard. they have no business leading the westindies

as such I would pik sammy as captain before gayle both gayle and ganga anyday...now that I know both men better!

westindies captain must be westindian first. even Viv, who is rabidly antiguan and dotty, puts westindies first as player and captain.

I am sorry but ganga lost me when he spoke of particularising the westindies. I am not longer in his corner

ganga knows his cricket and wud be a good captain on the field...better than sammy as he has proven. he is a better batsman than sammy is a bowler and wud likely make some runs for the westindies batting at 6 at this stage of his career. Ganga is prolly more worthy of a place than sammy in the side.

but especially now that he has spoken as he has he will not be considered for a place in the side at all...although he has been lamenting the fact he has been lamenting his non-selection. how does he expect to be sellected when he is speaking anti-westindian

If I can borrow from an article written by lbw375....

"Since January 2004 to Sept 2011 West Indies have debuted in test cricket 39 cricketers. Australia capped 35 players, England 28, India 22 and South Africa 17...Of the 16 bowlers 7 were spinners. Suliemann Benn and Davendra Bishoo have been the most successful. Benn has 51 wickets from 17 matches at 41.41 with 3 5 wckets per innings hauls...he search for a reliable opener to partner Chris Gayle continued and of the 19 batsmen who debuted between 2004 and 2011, 10 were opening batsmen. All have failed to make an impact...9 debutant batsmen played in the middle order (1-6) with Kirk Edwards (1 match) making an impact with a century on debut recently. Darren Bravo (518 runs @ 39.84 from 8 matches), Brendan Nash (1,103 runs @ 33.42 from 21 matches) were the most consistent. Journeyman Travis Dowlin and Narsingh Deonarine both average 30 & 31 and Dwayne Smith (320 runs @ 24.61 from 10 matches) faded rapidily after a century on debut against a strong South Africa attack. Runako Morton was given 15 matches and produced 573 runs @ 22.03 and the rest - Sylvester Joseph, and Donovan Pagon all had cameos lasting between 1 and 5 test matches."

In the end, Nash was in the side because he was better than what we had to offer at the time....

Sadly, he's lost form, and as a result, lost his place, and at 33 it looks like he will struggle to get it back.

exactly the point being made by many! the man come to the WI and out played most to earn his place. but many people were blinded by the "white" light to see that! ;)

at the end of it all nash is still 33 and gone. and nothing has been solved in the inrterim. we still need openers, middle order bat.

we were looking for solutions all along to all the deficits implied in mikesivas post. was sknash a solution? was he looked at as a solution...could he have been a solution?

the answer to all and every question that begs is NO!

so sknashs time gave us nothing. we robbed ourselves of an oportunity to add to the list of 39 tried,in effort to find solutions.

today that list of 39 might have been contained of 44, or even 50, or 55 players. but at some point we would have found answers, like Kirk Edwards appears to be an answer at this point.

Maps.. What is your take on the female Jamaican track n field star that represented a European country ? is she a carpetbagger too?
Merlene Joyce Ottey (born May 10, 1960), is a Jamaican-born Slovenian track athlete. Ottey began her career representing Jamaica, but since 2002, has represented Slovenia, where she now resides.

those countries..and athletic tournaments have rules of representation. yu must at least be an immigrant to a country to represent them.

or if yu have a claim on dem like skansh had on jamaica you cant jess walk in and represent and leave as yu see fit. as far as I know Kevin Pietersen for example...who had a claim on england as the white saffies and zimbabweans do....and dat other fella in englands' cricket team... actually live in england, make their homes there, have families - wife and children, living going to school etc in england.

deh are migrants

Donavon Bailey set record for canada in athletics. Bailey was an immigrant and now a citizen.

in every case deh all went through some process of qualifying that wasnt easy.

if yu chose to live in a place and you are accepted you can represent them for you are now one of them

allyuh talk about pietersen as an example. it took pietersen years to qualify to play for england.

all the blac and indo players who play for england are either englishmen born...or migrated there years before.

how long for example did it Take Roy to qualify to play for Oz? I am not familiar with his situation.

its only in the westindies that anyone it seems can lay claim, walk right in and right out again, when they are satisfied

lil chesney hughes is from a westindian territory to which england extends their passports. he qualifies for england as a result. he can play for england...or for the westindies if he is selected by either

but if he chooses the westindies he loses qualificatin for england. he can still keep his passprot and be an englishman I guess ...but he could not play for england unless he renounces his westindian situatin and requalifies for england.

I dont exactly know how deh wud handle that but I know he would be disqualified for engl;and if he plays for the westindies
