good call...but we never have sacrificed a win for a record. when Lara scored dat 400 it was better to save protect against a westindian defeat at the time
Yuh fughet that we batted almost 3 days for that 700+, bowled out Eng for 280+ in their 1st inning and ran out of time to bowl them out in the 2nd inning?

yes. but the way we had played up to then led no one to expect that we would wind up in that position.
that we actually saved the game was a relief to most...to me

exactly! dat we got england out so cheaply first time was a great suprise.
maybe they were just tired. the rest they got during their first innings must have revived them

Clarke couldn't get the job done, no wonder Lara (Bingle) give out the work

Clarke is just playing public relations....
He didn't want to pass the revered Don Bradman's record, so like Mark Taylor before him, he declared before reaching that score, claiming he was putting the team first, again like Taylor before him.
He had enough time in the match to go for Lara's 400, and also try to bowl India out. But he was worried that if he did that, the Aussie media would claim he was being selfish and going for personal glory.
I mean, after all, there's two whole days still left in the match....

I guess he hit the jackpot then? If it was me this close and so much time to bowl out those weak hearted, I would have blaze de ball away after passing 300...
