the scheduling of cricket in the westindies is now a definte turn off. the traditional westindian season between January and May is now wound up, done and recast. we now have tests in April, may, June and July...planting season in the region during those months, save in Guyana!

if all the games are then played in Guyana during their then dry season it would be fine. but most of the games must be played elsewhere and that could turn out to be a vast' water-logged project.

Dominca when I knew it was a very green and verdant island in which the light for cricket was never really good due to the forrestation no doubt! normally prone to rain In Dominica, dont see how, in the rainy season any test match played there would not be repeatedly interrupted by the weather and subsequent bad-light!

but I divorce anyway! and I might be wrong for the environmental conditions may have changed to the opposite of what they were in the region, far less Dominca during the last 30 years or so! we have 'global warming' now so who knows. maybe we can sen' an' arks the 'Gore-oracle' fuh advice! :D

too much cricket is being played Bally..way too much.

test cricket in particular has a different rythymm than basketball, soccer indeed than all other professional sports. the natural cricket seasons all in regions... save england and australia...appear to have been basically altered to accomadate ICC scheduling of incessant cricket, to which the fan base, even in asia cannot adjust and cope with. everywhere cricket is being played in empty stadia as a result.

what is keeping things going financially, sponsorship?

the ICC shud be mindful of these facts and more. they should know the trajectory of the game they manage. it is clear they do not, do not care to, and are killing the game by over-exposure and ceaseless manipulation of format.

right now there are 3 versions of the game going and that is a bit much for the fan base which is not as large as in the subcontinent, in every locaation where it is played.

it is way too much for the players as well, and has produced a lot of conflict between players and admins, as the powers that be seek to maintain themselves by pulling rank to dominate players across all 3 formats, even where the gsme is a privately owned project.

given the clashing of national boards and individual players interest, no wonder we have as much admin/player friction as there is..

then there is the current fact of player exhaustion as most often the same players are involved in all forms of the game, for their nations and privately owned teams and competitions

the ICC is a neo liberal capitalist group of, rapine oriented, exploitative skunts, who dont give a fig for the players and their burnout problems. they are squeezing the golden egg awfully hard. enough to kill it? we shall soon see!

spot on Mappy! The fans are getting bombarded with too much meaningless cricket such as the IPL, etc. It is a full time job following cricket nowadays.
