Kemar Roach and Ian Bell

The West Indies were 35 runs short of an unlikely Test win at Brisbane when Kemar Roach was given out caught behind. Roach used a review, and even though Hotspot showed that there was no 'spot' on the bat, the umpires surprisingly upheld their decision to give Roach out.
In the final Ashes Test at Sydney, Ian Bell was given out caught behind, and chose to use a review. Once again, Hotspot showed that there was no 'spot' on the bat, but this time the umpires reversed their decision, and Bell was reprieved and adjudged to be not out.
Two identical situations, two different outcomes....
I think UDRS is a good system. The problem is that the umpires implementing the system are inconsistent. Did the umpires err when they gave Roach out? Have the umpires finally got their act together where UDRS is concerned? If Roach had been batting today, would he have been given a reprieve and be ruled not out?
All we ask for is consistency from the umpires....

What is the WICB doing about this issue? Will they bring this to ICC attention? They are the ones to put pressures ...no?mapoui wrote:BallOil wrote:Good observation Mike....

We all know that humans will make errors and if we have technology to aid in a decision...why not?

allyuh see! this is a good case fuh the courts!
I am president of the wicb the ICC mus' give me a good ansah or we end up in the courts.
we would end up in the courts anyway! that game must at best be declared null and void as to result of that ridiculous, racist, pro Oz decision, and ICC compelled to write a definitive rule sorting out permanetly any such damm nonsense!
the skunt, lackey, running dog wicb did nothing!

wat error? where do you see an error take place! the empires were wrong and they were corrected by the technology. where-upon hey committed an awful sin by insisting the batsman was out anyway and westindies lost.[We all know that humans will make errors and if we have technology to aid in a decision...why not?
where do you see error..save maybe once if we give them the benefit of doubt that they actually thought at first Roach was out and di not send him anyway as the Oz appealed?

where is the error when the technology says you were wrong and you insist that the technology is wrong?

you keep excusing the empires bally. deh pulled off an anti blac thing that favoured the oz.
there was absolutely no reason for them not to rescind their original decision that Roach was out. by technological proof they had to change their decison.
they did not! they were unfair, wrong, and open to all maner of accusation specifically acusations of racism and whte favoritism.
and the msm and all authorities let them get away with it. disgusting!
and now you are pu**y-footing around the issue not calling it like it is. dat too is awful!
