West Indies Cricket Fans

I'm looking forward to seeing how young Darren gets on in the four day competition this weekend, he was so hot and cold in the world cup, lets have a look at how he performaned..

first game: brilliant knock against SA, embarrassed Steyn, Morkel and Tahir to get a decent (76).

second game: played some nice strokes against netherlands but threw away his wicket on (30)

third game: came into an easy game vs Bang and managed to hang on with Gayle to win us the game although he did play a rash shot and almost got caught (9 not out)

fourth game: totally bowled whilst playing a silly shot against Ireland (0)

fifth game: against England he looked calm and confident but he edged a shot he should have done better with and was caught on (5)

sixth game: against India he was back to his best playing good shots and defending well against the spin, then he played a stupid shot up in the air on the last ball of the over and got caught on (22)

seventh game: out for a duck in a tight lbw vs Pakistan (0)

So what can we take from those performances? imo two of his best knocks were against SA and India so at least he can perform against the big teams, but i guess with youth cames inconsistency and that word just summed up his world cup to be honest, it will be very interesting to see how he gets on in the the Pakistan series next month, i'm hoping he will have learned from his mistakes ans finally get that ton he's been looking for.

There are obvious problems in the WI camp... Things are going on behind scenes which could disrupt this promising youngman’s game. For example, Sammy came in @ #3 ahead of him which wasn't necessary against England, etc

He might be a bit low in confidence as well. Last night, Bravo played for QPCC in the 50 overs final where he failed to trouble the scorer.

I never knew about yesterdays knock!! , clearly his confidence isn't as high as it was in SL, i only hope he gets his act together this weekend and at least gets a 50 in one of his innings, i guess it's all part of the learning experience, the standard he was playing at was always gonna be difficult to maintain all the time, Lara didn't start off the best either from what i gather so there's still hope for Darren .

Yes, Darren will come good. He is one for the future. We need a stable team with good leadership. Someone the young players can trust and look up at the same-time. At the moment I don't think we have that...

if he is realy good there is no reason to worry. no doubt the opposition looked at film and worked him out. that was to be expected.

Darren shud have expected that and to have been ready to adjust his game to whatever they threw at him.

skunt Gibson should have been prepared for that as coach too, to sus out what the opposition would do in response to the new star, and to have his player ready to adjust.

lil B have to see what they are doing to him and adjust. he shud have known he would have had adjust, and be like the Borg, working out what they opposition doing at all times and ready to adjust in resonse and almost immediately, in correcting for it.

Mapoui, are you saying that the coach is so caught up ridding the senior players that he is ignoring the youngsters? I hope not! These guys need as much help as possible to make the jump to the international level. It would be a shame if they don’t get the necessary support to help them cope with the demands of world cricket.

Maybe Alvin should borrow Rohan's and just change the name....
