CAN WE TRUST RAMPAUL IN THE TESTS?

No doubt the man has come back well and looks like a vastly improved player, his performance in India and also against Pakistan recently have been very impressive but the question is can he repeat those spells in the longer version of the game? thus far he hasn't pulled up any trees in the five Tests he's played so it would be a gamble, i guess he's earned his chance, especially as the Pak batsmen don't seem to know how to handle him.

wat is he now 24-25?
this is the time! if not now never. he shud be included, deserves the shot now before all save Edwards and Roach...or taylor if he was available

There's no doubt that Rampaul is a must-have for ODIs....
But does he have the stamina to last five days? I'm worried that every time I see him, he seems to have added some pounds to his waist.
Given that Sammy must play, that leaves a space for three other bowlers, and here are the contenders - Bishoo, Roach, Edwards, Rampaul. Unless one of the first three are injured, I can't see Rampaul playing. However, if Edwards of Roach are not match-fit, then I wouldn't argue against Rampaul being picked ahead of the likes of Pascal, Gabriel and Russell....

I dont know about weight. i did not see too much belly on rampaul these last 3 games. he looked solid to me, fitter and stronger than I have ever seen him.
I wud have no hesitation including him for the test match and se how he goes. I think he will go fine but in trth he may not be included since Pak pik Sammy for us by giving him wickets and a win yesterday

Ravi should only play in onedayers and 20/20---he has excelled in these 2 versions of the game.AFRO wrote:No doubt the man has come back well and looks like a vastly improved player

You'd have a point if we was playing just four bowlers, BUT I VERY MUCH DOUBT WE WILL, so i think you need to think again Mike!!mikesiva wrote:There's no doubt that Rampaul is a must-have for ODIs....

Do you think we're going to play five bowlers? Where did you get that hare-brained idea from?AFRO wrote:You'd have a point if we was playing just four bowlers, BUT I VERY MUCH DOUBT WE WILL, so i think you need to think again Mike!!mikesiva wrote:There's no doubt that Rampaul is a must-have for ODIs....

Erm i take it you was too busy watching Shiv's backside against SL to notice that we had SAMMY, RUSSELL, ROACH, BRAVO AND SHILLINGFORD on the pitch in the first Test?mikesiva wrote: Do you think we're going to play five bowlers? Where did you get that hare-brained idea from?

Sammy is seen as an ALLROUNDER, not just a bowler, therefore Bravo's replacement is likely to be another bowler, WE HAVEN'T PLAYED SEVEN REAL BATSMEN IN THE LAST THREE TESTS SERIES!!.. so your little "wish" (which is pretty much just to get Shiv into the team) ISN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!

Furthermore if you think we can bowl out Pak with just Sammy, Roach and Edwards in the pace department then YOU ARE MORE NAIVE THAN I THOUGHT!!
