Sri Lankan all rounder Sanath Jayasuriya (42) is set to make a dramatic one-day comeback against England.

With opener Upul Tharanga unlikely to be considered for selection after being embroiled in an alleged doping scandal, Jayasuriya should be an automatic choice to open the innings for the forthcoming ODI and Twenty20 series against England.

The veteran champion who celebrates his 42nd birthday on June 30 is easily the oldest cricketer in international cricket at present.

Sri Lanka have turned to veteran batsman Sanath Jayasuriya for the forthcoming limited-overs series against England. With Upul Tharanga ruled out the series as he faces a disciplinary hearing following reports of a failed drugs test during the World Cup, Sri Lanka have recalled the 41-year-old Jayasuriya.

The left-hander last played for Sri Lanka in December 2009 and his international career appeared over after he was omitted from the World Cup squad. However he now returns for the one Twenty20 international and five ODIs against England.

The Lions also have named Tillakaratne Dilshan and Angelo Mathews in their 16-man squad despite fitness doubts. Captain Dilshan must sit out the final match of the Test series with a fractured thumb, while all-rounder Mathews must prove his fitness.

Sri Lanka one-day squad: T Dilshan, T Kandamby, K Sangakkara, M Jayawardene, D Chandimal, J Mendis, D Karunaratne, T Perera, Malinga, N Kulasekera, S Lakmal, D Fernando, S Randiv, A Mendis, A Mathews, S Jayasuriya.
