I know that the cupboard is bare insofar as accomplished WI batsmen at this level is concerned, however given his seniority and the pivotal role that he plays in the batting lineup there is a chronic carelessness to his performances that surely warrants him being dropped.

The general hallmark of his career is that he has promised much more than he has delivered - and i say this notwithstanding some of the outstanding performances he has contributed in the past.

He is no example to the younger players coming through so I would say that he should be dropped - given his age/experience he can no longer be selected on the basis of 'promise'.

this thread is not intended towards u.

there is a joker who thinks westindies have a world pool of talent and other teams dont have any talent or future players.

he thinks that young players can defeat big teams.

though you make some valid points on Sars, he is still the best around. When last WI had a #3 averaging over 40 in ODIs? A regular #3.

Give us some names you want to drop Sarwan for, please...

A bird in the hand worth two in the bush..eh

Ball Oil, to be honest with you I can't give you a name because i am not that in touch with current players around the WI. So if anyone thinks that disqualifies me from offering an opinion on team selection then i take a bow.

However, how long can being the best around but yet still failing to deliver as required continue to be rewarded with selection?

Look at the shot he got out to today? Surely he should know by now that once he gets in he has to stay in. To hit a full toss straight down the throat of the fielder on the boundary beggars belief. Jesus, I am so frustrated!

Howzdat? Let me help you... here are the stats for the #3 in ODIs.
IVA Richards 57.57
S Chanderpaul 49.3
BC Lara 45.84
PV Simmons 36.36
RR Sarwan 35.69
RB Richardson 35.25
WW Hinds 33
HA Gomes 28.82

Sarwan is the only West Indies batsman with a 40+ average in ODI in the squad. If we are going to drop Sarwan, then the whole team should be condemn. If you are going to replace a player he should be better than the one your are replacing.

Sarwan still has much work to do ...though.

Bally,

when they asked the different players who their heros were, Shiv say Rohan Kanhai. we all know how Shiv has been performing since he had that coaching session with the Babu.

On the other hand, Ronnie's hero is Sir Carl Hooper. do I need to say anything more?
