Few Issues.......

The Yardies get the message...deh produce a real westindian wicket, not the impostors we were given in St Lucia, St Kitts, Guyana and Antigua.

it was a better wicket even dan the half decent one we got at kensington...and westindies responded with their best game.

the best games westindies played for the season were at Kensington and now at Sabina. even if we lucked out and beat pak at Guyana in the first test.

taht is the major problem all the time with the westindies this season...the wickets that are being prepared at westindian groiund that westindians are not accustomed to and which wickets give the opposition great advantages in the westindies

that has turned out to be the single most ill and debilitating factor in westindies cricket: THE SABOTAGE OF WESTINDIAN CRICKET CHANCES BY OUR OWN PEOPLE, GROUNDSMEN..ESPECIALLY IN GUYANA AND TRINIDAD, BUT MOST SUPRISINGLY UP IN THE DOTS AS WELL...WHO MAKE WICKETS TAILORED TO THE STRENGTHS OF THE OPPOSITION

THAT IS MAINLY WHY WESTINDIES STRUGGLED THIS SEASON, EARLY, AT WHICH POINTS THE GAMES COINCIDED WITH THE BAD, UN-WESTINDIAN WICKETS...AND LATE WHEN WE GOT BETTER WICKETS TO PLAY ON

OTIS GIBSON AS HEAD COACH APPEARS TO BE A THOROROUGLY BAD DECISION BY THE WICB.

Gibson aears to be a hypocritical incompetent, who has little real westindian sensibility, is not at all concered about construcing a team in the sense that Worrell/Lloyd, did by transcending differences among people, highlighting the commom purpose of the activity they are involved in, and defeating the world with the result.

Darren Sammy has a sense of this greater than Gibson. and much greater than gayle demonstrated when he was captain. Sammy is westindian in that sense and a better captain than Gayle was. is really unofrtunate that he cannot make the team on ability alone, that his selection disrupts the team balance so badly.

were Sammy the real article as a player westindies wud have had the right man at last!

but Otis Gibson is a waste of time and ought to be dismissed immediately to be replace by no one at all. it is time to purge westindies cricket of the ridculous headcoache postiion. the head coache position is an imposed headache on cricket, we cud get rid of by simply hiring none

I am more convinced each day about the wastefullness of squandering money on headcoaches...millions of dollars worth of salaries on a postion that must cause trouble...and has caused massive troubles almost in every instance of such a position in its short history.

the post attracts enigmatic and egotistic psycopaths, bully-type figures, eager to impose their authority on teams. there are bound to be in those teams 1 or a few untameable spirits among the players that gurantee clashes between players and coaches.

what is it about a Duncan Fkletcher or Gregg Chappell that makes them worth millions of dollars as well as players of the caibre of Pietersen and Gangulay?

or Chris Gayle, Sarwan, Shive and team stability as well as his salary in the case of Gibson?

there is no need for no damm head coache. there may be need at times for coaches at the top level..hire them when and if the need arises...a batting coach to address batting problems, a bowling, fielding, keeping, etc when and if....

but the captain is the man for the job of leading a cricket team. thats the way it eveolved and that is the way it still works best.

and if because of modern expansion of the game additional personell is needed hire the skill necessary for the work that becomes available. no head coaches need apply. let them apply to the soccer teams, which sport appears to need and to thrive on the flambouyant bully jackassness of their head coahes...the more the fool they make of themselves the more news-worthy they become

for the tests against India westindies shud play 5 bowlers..or 4 and allrounder Sammy if deh still insist on keeping him as captain.

ravi, edwards and raoch shud stiflle the Indians on the real Sabina wicket we saw yesterday. along with bishoo we wud be close to to best attack we can muster.

all of those 4 can take wickets in bunches. dats wat we need to beat India...those 4 in the attack. if one falters there are Taylor and Benn as backups who ought to be made ready to fit in if necessary

the 5 batsmen must stand up now and do the batting job they are paid for now.

barath looked rusty so it shud be a toss between he and simmons for the spot. gayle shud be automatic. sarwan and shive next..and either of samuels and lil Bravo.

baugh will keep the keeping spot and its encouraging to see him finally start to approach his batting with a modicum of common sense. he still has to get a test fifty under his belt. he shud be about correcting this long blot of a stat on his record
