Mapoui,

Are you happy that Edwards replaced Nash?

I am not happy about any of this. skansh shud not have been in the side in the first place.

that sknash is gone for kirk edwards makes little sense unless my judgement of edwards is wrong and he is an excellent prospect in need of a chance to explode on us soon

I alwasy saw sknash as a mediocre batsman, an oz reject. if he cant make he Oz team why shud he make ours?

dat made little sense to me.

dat skansh scored some runs is simply luck and conditons which suited him he ran into often and early. anytime he ran into conditions that demanded skill from batsmen to counter the bowling, he failed, and failed and failed.

let him get his ticke to Oz on the first plane out of kingston

“It is clear that Brendan has been struggling for form for some time and we want to give him a chance to take some time away from international cricket and work on his game,” Clyde Butts, Chairman of the Selection Committee said.

“Brendan is a mentally tough cricketer and we are sure that he will be able to overcome the challenges he is now facing and come back strong,”
sknash is 33! come back when?

Edwards averages 41 at First Class level so it's about time he gets his chance, judging him on his ODI performances is useless because firstly he's not an opener and secondly his game is more suited to the longer format,

As for Nash, well it's no surprise as he's been in poor form over the last two series, plus i think having him and Chanders in the same side unbalances our batting unit, they are far too defensive and most of the time slow down our run rate, my team right now would be..

Simmons
Barath
Edwards
Darren
Chanders
Samuels
Baugh
Sammy
Rampaul
Edwards/Roach
Bishoo

a good option for the westindies at this time might be to turn simmons into the permanet keeper.

right now he is porlly not too far behind baugh and ramdin as a keeper and the certainly can bat better than they.

so in my 5-5-1 if simmons is made the keeper he solves the middle bating problem and 5 pure batsmen can be selected with less trepidation

Barath, Gayle, Sarwan, Shive Bravo, Samuels...simmons...Edwards, Rampaul, Bishoo, roach and Sammy

I'm a fan of Nash, but I acknowledge he's been in poor form, and needed to be dropped....
:)
But Kirk-Edwards-I-can-play-spin-like-Devon-Smith is not the answer!
There's a greater chance of Sarwan playing himself back in form than Kirk scoring runs against India....

I don't have a problem with the bowling - they're doing their job. Four bowlers are all we need on these pitches. We'd only need five bowlers if we're bowling on flat pitches, IMHO.

But the batting needs to come to the party, and to date only three batsmen have passed the Rampaul Test....
8-)
Sadly, without Gayle in the side, I suspect we're heading for another defeat.

Ah well, at least I can look forward to watching the end of the Jamaica National Athletics Trials and the Lausanne Diamond League meet to cheer me up!
:D

And Sarwan is apparently some "spin expert" and what has he done in these tests? also trying to paint Edwards as another Devon Smith is quite foolish Mike!!.. he only got out to spin twice in the India ODI series, and both times he got decent starts, try judging him after he's played a Test rather than being sour that your fellow Jamaican got dropped!! .

excellent post all-round but on number 3..the bowling has not quite done its job. at points with the tail, 3 times, deh have allowed Pak and India to get away with totals dat were too much for the westindies..wen we had dem on the ropes for next to nothing.

dat is where the fifth bowler comes into play. were there a fifth bowler in the Indian first for example India, wolud not have made 150....rather than the match-wining 246 Harbajan and Raina ended up putting together.

and counting out skanshs minor contribution, the otherwestindian 10 batsmen could have handled 150 by India
