Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored his 23rd Test ton playing in his record breaking 133rd test.

Playing in his 133rd test match, the most ever by a West Indies cricketer, The TIGER scored a masterful and unbeaten 116*

MANY OF US HAD WRITTEN OFF THE TIGER!

But he has showed all of us in his 133rd test what a remarkable fighter he is.

THE TIGER'S CONFIDENCE IS BACK!

After the world cup, the West Indies coach Otis Gibson and West Indies selectors tried to emasculate and belittle the Tiger and other senior players.

They asked the Tiger to retire from oneday cricket. When he refused they dropped him.

Had he failed in the Dominica test the coach and selectors would have most likely dropped him from the test squad for the next series.

BUT THE TIGER SHOWED HIS CHARACTER. HE ROSE FROM THE ASHES AND SCORED AN EXCELLENT HUNDRED--HIS 23RD IN TESTS.

THE TIGER'S TEST STATS:
Tests: 133

Innings: 227

Not Outs: 36

Runs: 9367

Average: 49.04

100s: 23

50s: 55

THE TIGER, THE MOST CAPPED WEST INDIES CRICKETER IN HISTORY, HAS SERVED WEST INDIES CRICKET WITH DISTINCTION.

Good to see the Tiger regain his confidence.

He said his goal was to score 10,000 runs in tests and onedayers.

MAY HE AT LEAST ACHIEVE HIS TEST GOAL---10K RUNS---and hopefully raise his test average to 50+

WILL THE TIGER RECEIVE HIS 10TH MAN OF MATCH AWARD IN TESTS ?

He scored 23 and 116* with the bat and took 1/38 with the ball----playing in his record breaking 133rd test match---most by a WI player.

UPDATE:

Shiv has won his 10th Man of Match.

The great Brian Lara won 12 Man of Match awards in 131 tests; Shiv Chanderpaul has now won 10 Man of Match awards in 133 tests.

I like Test Cricket in general. It can be great if wickets fall and the game is on the line. But, most of the time, I realize it is like watching a very antiquated form of entertainment that has very little room in the modern world. Right now, India is batting for a draw, they are not playing to win. Watching Chanderpaul and Dravid bat is worse than watching paint dry. The pitch looks like a dust bowl without any kind of movement for the ball. This is insufferably painful to watch. The ODI World Cup had interesting games and in general was fun to watch. I'll just wait for the T20 World Cup. Even these contextless ODI series is not much fun to watch. England's recent deciding game win was an exception though, but the series as a whole, just not interesting enough. I don't know how much longer I can be a cricket fan.
.

THIS IS WAT A MISINFO ENTHUSIAST...NO DOUBT FATTENED ON AMERICAN GARBAGE GAMES,,,,,HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE FLOW OF THE GAME WITH SHIVE AND EDWARDS FIGHTING A REAR-GUARD ACTION!

I GUESS THIS FELLA WUN LIKE A GAME LIKE CHESS AS WELL. HE PROLLY DOH GO DEEPER INTO ANYTHING DAN UNDER THE WRAPPER OF AN AMERICAN CANDY BAR.

SO SOLLY!

MAN OF MATCH SHIV CHANDERPAUL SPEAKS:
Shiv: "Whole series I was getting out in 20s and 30s, very happy to carry on past the three-figure mark. It's at the back of my mind it has been happening for a while now. It's always an honour (becoming the most capped Test cricketer for Windies), just shows what hard work can do for you."
Shiv was right about those 20s and 30s.

Check out his scores against Pakistan and India:
27, 36*, 23, 30, 27, 12, 23, 116*
6 scores in the 20s and 30s in his 8 innings against Pakista and and India.

Shiv said he was getting worried---but in batting with Edwards---Edwards said to him---dont worry----bat on. :D

GOOD TO SEE SHIV OVERCOME HIS 20S AND 30s PHOBIA!

the diff between a man of charcter and one made of cheese..Shive - Sarwan.

we have been let down by sars but not by Shive. I suspect we are all v very disappointed by sarwan failure.

Sars was getting out because India were getting him out and he could not respond to Dhonis' tactics. for a batsman of his experience and success he shud have sussed out what hey were doing...all watching cud see..and devise a successful counter-attack.

dat is wat batting is all about

Shiv talked about how hard work and perseverance enabled him to become the most capped player in West Indies history.

You mentioned CHARACTER!

It's how a man overcome adversity that reveals his CHARACTER!

Shiv is clearly a man of strong character.

Hope he gets to 10,000+ in tests with a 50+ average.

Did you see the Tiger hustling in Dominica ? :D

His next two series will be against India and Bangladesh----hopefully he reach 10K after those two series---everything thing else after that will be gravy----he'll end his career as the most capped WI player who scored 10,000+ runs in tests----2nd most by a WI batsman.
