Who is in charge of marketing ---bringing new posters on board ?BallOil wrote:A forum where new members can only be invited to join by an existing member?
FIRE THAT PERSON!
After x years you barely have 10 regular posters here.
Listen balloil---why dont you create a new handle over at CC----then encourage some of the regulars there to post here----post links from wifan over at cc----you may be able to pick up a few additional posters.
You need 25 cricket aficionados like Mapoui and you'd be in business.

Sounds impractical. How is that gonna work, BallOil? Dis is de internet! The internet is perhaps the last 'free' fronteir left on earth and God knows there are governments around the world doing their utmost to curtail access. My initial response is that selectivist ideas such as the one you suggest here smack of elitismBallOil wrote:A forum where new members can only be invited to join by an existing member?

I am grateful that someone, somewhere in the world has been inspired to create a place where cricket can be discussed with a West Indies focus. I also think that as long as a poster obeys the forum rules, they are free to offer an opinion. Is the suggestion based on the practicalities and costs of running a forum?

I am happy to assist. With no intention to deride the efforts of other forums, I have taken a look around at caribbeancricket.com and must say that the layout doesn't 'do it for me'.BallOil wrote:just an idea guys to beef up some demand... thanks you all for your input..
So for the time being windiesfans.com is my chosen place to offer my two cents worth on the wonderful game. I would say that there is a good vibe going on over here, and as a result I have gotten involved to the extent of 191 posts in less than 3 months. This bears testimony to the fact that visiting the site has become a much enjoyed part of my daily routine.
For those interested in such matters, one thing to consider when posting is the effective use of links within posts e.g to youtube, wisden and other places to illustrate and underline opinions.
In this way the site will be sending tentacles out into the wider www and that will be picked up by the cross referencing programs used ny search engines to patrol the web. So that in time the site will begin to appear higher in the search results.
Good luck.
