the only other batsman I consider comparable to lara in all the history of the game is tendulkar. all the rest are some small distance below these 2.

yet I dont think Tendy cyan do wat Lara has done a few times...277 in oz, 375 and 400 no. those are incredible battng feats I dont think anyone has duplicated before or after lara.

I dont think Tendulkar cud have played this innings here. Tendy never has. Tendulkar has longevity, he is durable, he has piled on the records other than the high scores. he is a very great batsman. but Lara bwoy. I doh know!

but I say after Murali: " no one has ever played my bowling like Lara has. Lara never had a problem against all I ever bowled at him. he is the only one like that! I troubled everybody else"

this innings documented here was a milestone, a tremendous achievement, likely unprecendented..presshah all-round on and off the field, a very decent england bowling attack that had beaten this westindies 3 straight games....runs, focus, the state of the westindies side in decline... the batting failing..carrying the batting, farming the bowling all the way through.....

I dont see anyone at all has ever done anything like wat lara did in this innings.... before or after.

dat is prolly it as far as great batting is concerned. i will look at the great performances again but I dont expect to find any to beat this. I know them all or most of them. what others can there be?

Boycott said it right: " we have all had bright sunny days on good wickets but have not done wat Lara did here"

tell em Maps... Lara had a excellent series in Lanka where he beat up pon Murali, et al

I was at Bim when Lara (153*) and Walsh defeated the mighty Oz. Thanks to Walsh for sticking around as we all know his batting record. The man with most ducks :)
