Garfield Sobers ignored in Indian 'hijack' of International

IT MUST rank as one of the greatest achievements of Sir Donald Bradman's career. He got a start in the International Cricket Council's All-time Test Team - and he's not even Indian.

After much hoo-haa the ICC announced its greatest-ever Test team this week, as chosen by some 250,000 online voters, about 235,000 of whom must have been Indian.

How else can you explain the selection of a team that included Virender Sehwag as opener alongside Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev as allrounder ahead of a certain West Indian by the name of Garfield Sobers.

An all-time team without Sobers? That's like compiling a list of the most influential rock bands of the past 50 years and leaving out The Beatles. And including Milli Vanilli instead.

Now everyone knows that these "best-of" lists are just an excuse to get people arguing. But they should also know that when putting together an all-time cricket team the first two names written down are automatically Bradman and Sobers. Read more

It is impossible to select a World XI, so why even attempt it?

I am sooprised dat deh even know gavaskar and kapil dev. after all deh were 20-30 years ago
