While going through Chris’s current stats on CRICINFO as of today 10/7/11...it is amazing to see his overall percentage of boundries in relation to his overall scoring in Tests, ODIS and T20....Can't believe its currently at 64%....
-------> Runs 4's 6's TTL in % Age
Tests 6,373 936 75 4,194 66%
ODI 8,087 946 169 4,798 59%
T20 2,399 219 155 1,806 75%
Totals 16,859 2,101 399 10,798
64%
Another staggering stats is his percentage of boundries in test matches....all I can say is WOW Christopher...you are really telling de truth when yuh seh dat you are an ENTERTAINER who de FANS come out to see...Big Up and nuff respeck!!!!
To mek matter even WORSE, GAYLE have more BOUNDRIES (2,500) than SAMMY have RUNS combined in TESTS, ODIS and T20 - this nat even close....
Sammy scored to date 457 runs in tests, 670 in ODIS and 353 in T20...thats a combined total of 1,480 runs scored in 119 games....What a CLAPPING FRAUD dis fcuker is!!!!
I report you decide!!!!

Hi everyone and thanks to Westdem for the stats. Don't quite get the point of making a comparision between Sammy and Gayle's figures because any cricket follower would know that as batsmen these 2 players abilities are not comparable. As a bowler Gayle is used far less than Sammy, however it would be interesting to see the bowling analysis figures for games in which they both played.
At risk of earning myself a reputation as a 'Gayle basher' I am still prepared to argue the case that unless his batting for WI becomes more mindful of the match situation he will not be counted amongst the WI greats. Maybe it is my lack of vision and knowledge/appreciation of the modern game, however I am not led to formulating a lasting impression of a batsman on the basis of how many boundaries he hits.
In course of penning this reply I just had a look at Alastair Cook's statistics after which I am willing to place a small bet that after 91 games he will have more test runs than Gayle has after the 91 games that he has played.
Cook: Tests 72; Runs 5868; Highest score 294; Average 49.72; balls faced 11959; strike rate 49.06; Hundreds 19; Fifties 26.
Gayle: Tests 91; Runs 6373; Highest score 333; Average 41.65; balls faced 10783; strike rate 59.10; Hundreds 13; Fifties 33.
Is Alastair Cook a more effective batsman than Gayle?

why wud you..or why shud you worry about being a gayle basher Howzat?
gayle is not angel, alhtough soem where wud have us believe otherwise.
gayle is a very good batsman who on ability, achievement, expeience is needed in the westindies side.
Gayle was not a good captain and that is done with. but thought he still easily earns a place in the side, the wicb appears bent on not giving him again.....although the wicb wont come out and say so, allowing a bad situation to sputter on long after it should have been handled.
westindies had a lot of trouble selecting a captain. there are'nt many or any possibilites around who are worth their place in the side... which gave the Hunter-rites at factory road the opportuity to insert one of their own..sammy..who has done a decent job so far.
it became obvious that the wicb had to select a captain on the basis of captaincy alone, which gave rise to the Ganga name. but at this moment I realise that sammy was the better choice.
Ganga presents certain personality problems I believe would have pulled whatever westindian selection he led apart..not unite it. sammy presents all kinds of selection problems but he apparently does an implosive effect on the selectins he leads. just the opposite in fact.
sammy and gayle are not comparable at all. to do so is to berate lime and lemon for not having as much juice as orange when you only have to suck one, orange...while you add water and sugar to the others to make somethng out of them.
the point is to develop players with the best abilites, find them around the region and bring them forward. among them we are bound to get a leader who can play at the required levels and lead too

and in the captaincy sweeps I dont want to hear the name Sarwan mentioned anymore. sarwan is disqualified..period!
if the selectors look backwards it wud be better to give it to shive again. shive is a far more worthy player and personality than sarwan from a cricket stand-point.
we are stuck with sammy fore awhile then..hoefully for as short a time as possible.
there is no comparison between gayle and sammy. none ought to have been attempted!
