The whole situation is highly unfortunate. Whether you side with the Board or with Gayle, the only people that are truly losing out is the team itself and the fans. We can point the finger and play the blamegame all day long, but for me the biggest problem with cricket in the Caribbean are the Chief Executive Officer and the Vice President of the WICB (Earnest Hilaire and Julian Hunte). They are control-freaks who would rather have a squad of guys, who are fence-sitters and don't rock the boat if required, as opposed to trying to negotiate a mixed quality of experienced campainers and promising youth.
It's a good move to get the WICB director Clive Lloyd to try and mediate some reason, with the hope of a agreement being resolved. Because i can't think of many guys that are more respected in the Caribbean, when it comes to Cricket than this guy. But unless Gayle retracts the comments he made, i don't see him getting back into the fold anytime soon. The other alternative is for Hunte and Hilare to be relieved from their duties (resign or fired) but again i'm not holding my breath for that to happen.
I've said it before and i'll say it again, for any real progress to be in made in West Indies cricket, the personnel will have to be replaced from the very top. Otherwise we'll continue to be in the bottom half of the rankings.

If Gibson swallows his ego and retracts his criticism of senior players, then maybe it will put the onus on Gayle to retract his retaliatory comments.
But I can't see Gayle apologising if Gibson doesn't. Financially, Gayle doesn't need to....
