St John's, Antigua - The West Indies Cricket Board has launched an Event
Management Internship Programme. The internship programme is aimed at
building the event management capacity in the Caribbean by facilitating
active partnership between the Event Management Unit of the WICB and West
Indies cricket host venues (the various countries where international and
regional cricket are hosted).
The internship programme is administered through a partnership with the
various host cricket boards around the region and is funded, in its entirety
by the WICB. The programme will run for 4 to 6 months and the first batch of
interns will commence participation next month.
"This internship programme is an important opportunity for us to engage
young people, active and former cricketers to build capacity around the
region for the purposes of efficiently executing WICB events," WICB Events
Manager Cindy McLean said.
"While the programme will benefit WICB in assisting us in delivering higher
quality experiences for cricket fans it will also expand the knowledge of
interns in all the various areas of event management," McLean added.
The interns will experience all functions of event management including
event planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
Persons interested in applying to the programme should do so through their
respective national cricket board.
