This is a one-eyed look at our bowlers...how to lie with statistics.
Our bowlers played five Tests on bowler-friendly pitches in the Caribbean, and suddenly everyone's patting themselves on their backs. What about our batsmen in those same Tests?
At the end of the three Tests with India, and two Tests with Pakistan, these were our bowlers' overall stats:
1) Sammy - 46 wkts @29.28
2) Fidel - 141 wkts @ 36.81
3) Rampaul - 25 wkts @ 36.72
4) Bishoo - 21 wkts @ 35.42
5) Roach - 40 wkts @ 29.90
During the Test tour of Bangladesh, this is what our bowlers took:
1) Sammy - 4 wkts
2) Fidel - 8 wkts
3) Rampaul - 2 wkts
4) Bishoo - 11 wkts
5) Roach - 1 wkt
6) Samuels - 5 wkts
After the two Tests against Bangladesh, these are the overall stats of our bowlers....
1) Sammy - 50 wkts at 29.20
2) Fidel - 149 wkts @ 36.47
3) Rampaul - 27 wkts @ 36.51
4) Bishoo - 32 wkts @ 30.53
5) Roach - 41 wkts @ 31.63
6) Samuels - 12 wkts @ 90.16
Samuels is coming down from over 100 before passing tests on his action....
Roach continues to decline, but the good news is that the other bowlers saw their averages going in the right direction in Bangladesh. The real test will be India, obviously. Sammy, Bishoo and Roach are at the right areas for Test cricket these days, but Fidel and Rampaul still need to bring their averages down to the low 30s....

Well unless nothing short of a minor-miracle happens, i don't see the stats of any of our bowlers making pretty reading, by the time the Indian batting line-up is done with us.
But you're right, you can't fault them for effort up until this point. The bowlers held their own in Sri Lanka, earlier this year against a top-draw batting line up with Dilshan, Sangakkara, Jarwardene and Samerweara. But India in India will be even more daunting....
