Game starts in about 30 mins..

Bangladesh team
Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Shahriar Nafees, Raqibul Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim*†, Naeem Islam, Nasir Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Suhrawadi Shuvo
West Indies team
KA Edwards, KC Brathwaite, DM Bravo, KOA Powell, MN Samuels, S Chanderpaul, DJG Sammy*, CS Baugh†, FH Edwards, D Bishoo, KAJ Roach

Scorecard

The early news from Mirpur is that the hero from Chittagong, Elias Sunny, will not play. He has been down with dehydration and an upset tummy since yesterday. Suhrawadi Shuvo comes in, so it is a like-for-like replacement. More woes for the WIndies - Lendl Simmons is out with the back injury he sustained in Chittagong, while Ravi Rampaul misses out too. Kieran Powell and Kemar Roach are reportedly the replacements.

Mohammad Isam lets us know that there are very few lines outside, though its a weekly holiday. Which is quite strange since Bangladesh are Test-crazy. Meanwhile, Darren Sammy wins the toss and West Indies bat.

Lendl Simmons and Ravi Rampaul are out with injuries....

Opener Kieran Powell and pacer Kemar Roach come into the side.

At least the WIndies are batting first this time.

The 50 partnership is up in unconvincing fashion....

But the important thing is that they're still there. Hopefully they can build on this start.

WI 88-0 at lunch....

Brathwaite 49*, Powell 37*

They looked more comfortable in the second hour than they did in the first. They will have tougher matches to come, on more difficult pitches, but they've done what was expected of them today, more or less.

KB's 50 comes up, and so does the opening partnership's 100....

Brathwaite gets out next ball.

A missed opportunity, IMHO. This was a flat pitch against a poor attack. If he can't push on against Bangladesh, how's he going to fare against India?

Powell gets his half-century....

Well done, lad, but for God's sake, don't be satisfied with that! You need to fill your boots on this pitch, against this attack. Push on to three figures.

You were saying he "wasn't ready" before and now you're moaning when an 18 YEAR OLD gets his first 50?

GET REAL MIKE!! , like any youngster he's gonna make mistakes, but the more the kid plays the better he will get, he played spin really well today and was unlucky the way he got out, hopefully Powell will stay there with Edwards for a long while yet, and i'm praying Darren can cash in aswell.

Are you watching the match, Afro? Are you really satisfied with KB getting to 50 on this flat pitch against these crap bowlers, and then being so satisfied with a mere half-century, that he just switched off and gave it way?

I grew up watching the likes of Greenidge, Haynes, Lloyd and Richards batting, and they would not have been satisfied with the way KB failed to cash in. If KB's happy to not go for a century here, where does he think he's going to get one? In a Test in India against a far superior bowling attack?

I'm not happy with Powell's footwork, but at least he's showing the determination to get to three figures. I just hope he doesn't have a brain-freeze the way KB did....

Remember, when Sarwan was in Bangladesh, in a Test he hit 261 not out. That's the kind of ambition our batsmen need against these poor bowlers on this flat pitch.

On banglacricket.com, posters are joking that KB is like a Bangla batsman - happy to make a 50 and get out on a flat pitch!

That's the 50 partnership, and it's 150-1 now.

Powell is dropped by Rahim off Shakib!

Hopefully, he can make use of that piece of luck....

Powell 72*, Kirk 28*

I guess not....

Powell's bowled by Shuvo for 72!
