Really excited about this match, all eyes will be on Narine naturally but also i think the likes of Corbin can really stand up and be counted here, got over 500 runs in the last four day competition, tends to get good starts but goes for big hits too much when he's set, he missed out of two tons doing that last season  , if he calms down and uses some patience i think he can be a top player, also looking forward to seeing how Brathwaite gets on, was the top pacer in the four day competition and many people have been impressed when they've seen him play,

Lastly i'm also looking for Andre Russell to stand up, he has a chance to really put some pressure on Sammy if he does well in this series i think, and Gabriel too.

My team..

Hyatt
Chandrika
Corbin
Carter
Bonner
Thomas (wk)
Russell
Brathwaite
Permaul (c)
Narine
Gabriel

Yeah, I would agree with that side....

It's easy to pick - just leave out Pascal!
:D
Though, to be fair, I wouldn't complain if Pascal is picked ahead of Gabriel.

Did Corbin open? what the feck are they playing at he's not a fecking opener!! , i don't even know the team right now but i'll just assume it's the one i picked, not the best of starts but sh/t happens, if we get anything above 230 then Bang will be in huge trouble because our attack is no joke, TRUST ME,

I see Mike throwing out the same tedious line on sissy.com "is this our future?"...MIKE STOP BEING FECKING NAIVE!!.. it's about the INDIVIDUALS we gain from the A-team, it's not about the A-team as a whole, so for example if we lose this game and Narine gets 7fer in each innings THEN WE'VE GAIN A PLAYER TO STEP UP TO THE NEXT LEVEL, that's the way i see it, we could have played Chesney Hughes and Keddy Lesporis who i believe are very good batters, but they wasn't chosen for some reason, maybe next time?!!

Looks like the guys are starting to rebuild now so lets hope we put up a good score and give Bang some to think about.

Come now, Afro, these guys know that this is their opportunity to pressure the incumbents who are currently in India, and they're playing at home to Bangladesh!
:?
They need to fill their boots, and this is not the best of starts. There are only two "Tests", so that's a maximum four innings....

Still, Corbin deserves his spot in the A team, and needs a run, but he's probably not ready to play for the senior team yet. According to WICB policy, which prohibits Gayle, Pollard and Big Bravo from playing for the WI 20/20 side until they play the domestic tournament, then CHesney Hughes can't play the longer version of the game for WI A team until he plays four-day cricket for the Leewards.

IMHO, Simmons should be in this side, because he was one of the top ten batsmen in the last four-day domestic competition. Fletcher, Lambert, Lesporis, Ryan Hinds, Dave Bernard, and both Gangas all out-performed Chandrika with the bat in the domestic competition, which should be the yardstick to pick players for this team....

WIAvBangA 50 runs! Windies A have brought up their 50 in the 15th over. Windies A are 55/2; Hyatt 26* & Bonner 17*.

Good recovery by this duo....

On the contrary, while I laud individual achievements, I certainly won't feel good about a loss at home to Bangladesh. I still haven't seen the team...I just hope Carter is coming next, and that he hasn't been omitted from the XI.

Mike like i said SH/T HAPPENS, Kirk Edwards got seven in the first innings on his debut, the next Innings HE GOT A TON, i wouldn't be surprised if Corbin went and done that, futhermore you're talking like this Bang attack is full of no hopers..TWO OF THE SPINNERS JUST PLAYED AGAINST THE WI SENIOR TEAM!!..AND TOOK WICKETS ASWELL, and THREE OF THE BATTERS HAVE TEST EXPERIENCE,

As for Simmons, i think the man needs a break man, he's been playing cricket non-stop, Carribean t20, four day competition, India and Pak series, Champions league and then the Bang series, so i'm not surprised he never got picked, imo a middle order of..

Corbin
Hughes
Carter
Lesporis

Would be the way to go, but like you said Chesney hasn't played four day cricket here so maybe that's why he wasn't picked, HE BETTER PLAY IN THE NEXT ONE THOUGH OR ELSE THEM LEEWARD SELECTORS REALLY ARE A BUNCH OF SKUNTS!! ,

The bottom line is we've got a young team Mike, even if Carter of Corbin hit double tons are they really gonna replace the likes of Samuels and Shiv right now? i doubt it, i just can't wait to see how the bowling unit does, especially Narine, Brathwaite and Gabriel, those are the kind of players who can "put pressure" on the current bowling unit imo.

WIAvBangA The 50 partnership is up! Good batting from thus far from both Hyatt 32* & Bonner 19*. At the end of the 18th Windies are 63/2.

WIAvBangA SIX! in the 20th over for Danza Hyatt, as he moves on to 42*. Bonner 21*, Windies A are 75/2.

WIAvBangA 2 great boundaries for Bonner in the 22nd over! He moves on to 31*. Hyatt is on 43*; Windies A are 86/2.

That's fair enough, Afro....

I agree with you that the Leewards better make damn sure they pick Hughes next season, or we'll lose him to English cricket. And I do hope Carter is down to bat next.

I'm not sure I agree about the bowlers vs the batsmen. Rampaul, Bishoo and Fidel are producing the goods the ball, and their places aren't under threat yet, and Sammy's place seems unshakeable....
8-)
But the batting still has vacancies:

1) ????
2) ????
3) Kirk Edwards
4) Darren Bravo
5) Shiv Chanderpaul
6) Marlon Samuels
7) keeper?

If Corbin and Thomas produce runs, AND keep wicket at this level, they could challenge for the Baugh/Ramdin place, while nobody has cemented either opener's spot since Gayle moved away from the scene....
