My take is that Chris Gayle must be informed what precisely he stated that he must apologise for ; unless the WICB wants him to issue a blanket apology . I have no doubt that some of the things that Gayle stated did not merit an apology .
It is my understanding that the WICB was willing to provide a Facilitator to help Gayle with writing his apology and if needs be his retraction . I have stated elsewhere that what is needed , in my opinion in this debacle is a Mediator not a Facilitator .
My reasoning for the WICB telling Gayle precisely what he must apologise , and withdraw in all his utterances , is that this would provide the General Public an opportunity to see how Petty and Vindictive those who populate the WICB are . If the WICB takes umbrage to what Gayle has stated , then it has the option to sue him for slander .
