I expect India to be unchanged, and hopefully we will have the sense to recall Barath to the side to open the batting....

Unless there's injuries India should be unchanged and after the success they had in playing two spinners, i'd expect that to continue in the second test. As long as the injury-proned Barath is fit, he should come in for Powell, who doesn't quite look ready for Senior level yet. The biggest concern for me was how two of our supposed middle-order batsmen (Darren Bravo and Samuels) got owned by their failure to read the variations the Indian spinners were dishing out to them. Even Baugh and Sammy looked more comfortable, when they were in defensive mode.

Wicket will be firm: Eden's curator
Read more:West Indies in India 2011KOLKATA: Amid speculation that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked for a turning track for the India-West Indies second Test at the Eden Gardens, the ground's veteran curator on Friday said he would produce a firm wicket which could assist the spinners on the last two days.
The septuagenarian Prabir Mukherjee, who drew flak from Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the pitches he prepared for the India-England ODI and Twenty20 matches last month, said: "I have not seen any written instruction from the board. If any such instruction has come, why is it not being shown to me? Moreover, I don't think the board can and has given any such written instruction."

Depends heavily on how well we bat. If we make a good account of ourselves, then we can at least make this match competitive, by creating a outside chance of a win. But if there's a repeat performance of the second innings (1st test), then it will give our bowlers no leverage or protection and will end up losing.BallOil wrote:any prediction for the 2nd Test?
Hypothetically if India bat first and bat us out of the game, then the batsmen will be playing catch-up under pressure by saving the follow-on target, then getting as close to the total as possible. Or if we bat first and make a bad score first or second innings, our bowlers will be under pressure to make up for the bad batting.
So either way the toss and decisions go, the consistancy in our batting will be absolutely key...
